susan have a great vaction forget about work and look forward to the 887 e-mails when you get back
What? That is what I had to deal with on Wednesday this week. I am also on call this weekend and bored. But I do start my new job on Monday. Well replace my old boss starting Monday and for that I am a leetle teeny tiny bit nervous.
Sorry about about your kitty taxi make sure KeithT looks after you and Lily this weekend
Do I have to go to work today?
I’m making chili con carne, without beans and with small cubes of meat. It’s yummy. Tomorrow I think I will bake a white cake, split it, and fill it with sour cream and crema blended together, and cherries. And top it with whipped cream. I will only make it if I can guarrantee that Driving Husband, Quasi-Daughter, and Attacks Husband will all be around. i don’t want it to go bad, and there’s only space for 1/2 a cake in my fridge.
Emmmm, no, MBB&B, you are not allowed to have a zipper tattooed upon your balding pate. There’s no reason to encourage people to mistake you for a bowling bag with a missing handle. I suggest a ring of birdies and stars like when a cartoon character gets conked on the noggin.
Despite my nearly non-existent search abilities, I found that postMagicEyes. Unfortunately I mis-remembered it as being a bit more poetic than it really was. It did reveal something very telling about the MMP, though. When I searched for threads containing the word ‘booger’ nearly a third of the first page of results were MMP threads. I’m so proud to be a member of a mucous-friendly thread community. “We’re here, we’re snotty, get used to it!”
There was something else I was going to post, but I forgot what it was. I hate when that happens.
Last night, we installed a wireless router. Now my sweetie and I can be on line together, if he brings his laptop from work. How cool is that! It’ll make the kid happy, too, when she visits, since her laptop is wireless-ready. So yay.
We didn’t sail yesterday - there was no wind to speak of, plus forecasts for T-storms which came true in the afternoon, at least at our house - not sure what it did in Solomons. We may try today - I haven’t checked the forecast yet. Or we’ll stay home and I’ll make chili and some cucumber salad. And iron. That is, I’ll iron some clothes, not make iron. Even tho the previous owners left us a lot of junk, a blast furnace wasn’t among the leavin’s.
While your prose was lovely, and - indeed - verged on the poetical…THAT WAS GROSS, Ashes. Probably made worse by the fact that I am currently congested (thank you, allergies) and currently on the edge of a sinus infection myself.
VunderWife and I drove up to the DC area yesterday to look over the Greenbelt, MD area. I may well be transfered there for job purposes.
The trip sucked on the way up, as the fuck-up fairy visited I-64 and I-95 many times to spread the cheer of vehicular accidents upon many fellow travelers. We decided to go home by a different route.
FCMom, we went through Glasva about 5 PM, and we honked loudly and waved in your direction. Did you hear us? Oh, and we almost got hit by lightning at the same time…
That was you, VBob?? We had a few thunderboomers hanging in our county about that time, too. But half an hour later, we drove into New Market - maybe 6 miles away, and they’d had no apparent rain or anything. Weird.
So what do you think of the Greenbelt neighborhood?
There’s a house right down the street from us for sale - only $379K! (Gah - the price of homes in this neighborhood has gone crazy - that’s more than $100K over what we paid a year ago…) But pish-tosh, it’s only money, and you’d be my neighbor - how cool would that be!!!
Maybe I’ll wait the cake until Monday. I work till 8 tomorrow, so Quasi-Daughter and I could bake the cake together. That would be fun.
Aside from that, I am not allowed to cook for three days. I must get the Szechuan noodles, chili, and rice pudding eaten. I will have rice pudding for lunch right now, dammit.
We have tons of already-cooked food that we have to eat up. It isn’t disappearing that fast because Mr. Lissar is working 12 hour shifts this weekend, so there’s really only me and anyone who happens to drop by and need feeding. I have a compulsive need to feed people. I also have a compulsive need to avoid doing dishes. I spend a lot of time trying to con friends into doing dishes. It’s easier if you’ve just fed them really well.
Tuesday is Laundry Day. We have tons of laundry hanging around because last week when Mr. Lissar went to do the laundry he said the laundromat was filled with hostile, washing-machine-possessive people. It was a holiday, and very hot, and so everyone was cranky.
You were expecting tales of fluffy kitties frolicking in a meadow, gardentraveler? Drink lots of fluids, stay away from dairy, and you’ll be fine. One hopes.
I remembered what I forgot! Actually I’ve been forgetting it all week, which is sad because it’s actually related to the topic of the OP. Last week I was in San Diego and the weather there was non-lethal so I drove around with the top down, yay! Only I can just about use White Out for foundation I’m so colorless and my valiant sunscreen eventually failed me.
I lightly crisped my cheeks and forehead and the thumb side of my hands and arms up about four inches to where my sleeves started. The most fun part was my scalp burn. It was a bit more crispy even though my hair was three inches thick when I pulled it back in a scrunchy for the drive home.
Stupid evil scrunchy! It was supposed to just pull off and my hair would go sproing like the fake snakes in a trick can of peanut brittle. Instead it twisted up and I had to somehow get my hair loose without passing out from the ouchy scalp burn. I swear, it was like my hair was infested with some sort of land piranha and they were feeling a bit peckish.
So for a couple of days I was quite pink and then developed the most odd mini farmer’s tan on my arms, which has faded already. I swear I must be part vampire the way my skin refuses to tan. Well… no wonder I kept forgetting that story.
Today I’m making soup and I forgot the dried ancho chiles. So now I have to traipse to the store for just one thing. What a pain. There’s got to be something else I can buy to make the trip worthwhile.
We are just lazing around the house today. We did that yesterday and Friday too. Playing in the hot sun for four days just zaps all the energy right out of you.
We were going to play out on the boat today because the weather is quite lovely, but we decided we just didn’t feel like it. Somehow, it seemed like a big hassle to load up the boat toys and drive the fifteen minutes it would take us to get to the lake, de-trailer the boat and then play. At any rate, the hubby’s vacation is over anyway and he wants to be rested up for going back to work tomorrow. I don’t have to go back to work, I have a whole 'nother week of vacation. Lucky me!
I went to the the store yesterday and picked up a few groceries and stuff. Today, I realized I forgot to buy ciggies, so I had to traipse back there. So, to make the trip worthwhile, I bought a darker shade of foundation to match my tan, some new mascara, blush and some Olay Regenerist stuff. I’ve never tried that Regenerist stuff and for me to spring nearly 22 bucks on cream or lotion is quite a feat. I am notoriously cheap when it comes to that kind of stuff.
Tonight we’re going to grill some beef rib thingies and I don’t know what I’ll make for a side dish. We’re kinda tater and pasta saladed out.
I should do some more laundry, but, feh, I’ve got all week to get it done. Sometimes it’s nice to just do nothing, know what I mean?
No, Ashes, I wasn’t expecting fluffy kittens, but…well…apparently graphic booger detail gets to me. And yes, I’m drinking lots of fluids, etc.
Didn’t get as much done as I wanted to (does anyone ever?) and now it’s practically Monday. Good news: I’m only working 3 1/2 days this week. Bad news: I have about 7 days’ worth of work to do in that time.
Mom gets here late Thursday afternoon and then it’s 10 days of fun-filled family frolic. OK, so the plans are still pretty fluid, but it should be fun and I REALLY need the vacation, so that should be healthy.
