Leaf season is over up here and so we’ve got the usual drifts of leaves blowing across driveways, roads, etc. So, especially in the morning and evening, with low, slanting light, I swear…
If one more big curled brown leaf skitters across the road looking like a squirrel, rabbit or chipmunk, I am going to pull over, find it, and stomp it into itty bitty tiny crumbs. That’ll teach 'em.
I had a moment of schattenfreud or however you spell it watching the jackass across the road spend all morning leafblowing his yard into the road to have 5 minutes of wind blow them all back again.:-).
Yep. Sometimes I brake for corn shucks slithering across the highway at harvest time. They seem alive.
This is my dog’s favorite time of year. She loves to chase the occasional blowing dry leaf…and then eat it.
The worst part is there is no way to explain to her that even animals that eat leaves for food don’t eat dried, dead leaves.
No problem for her though. She just pukes 'em up on the living room carpet and hour later and all’s good with the world.
