There may be a few of you who remember a post by this title, now apparently lost in some random server crash. If so, be kind. In any case, this time I have a photo.
For those of you who are squeamish, not to worry. The snake is iconic, rather than actual. I mowed the shape of a snake into my yard. Google Earth recently updated it’s photos of our place, so now my snake is part of the digital landscape, too.
That’s one nice lookin’ bit of wildlife in one nice sized yard. Neat idea.
We’re in a typical golf community with a homeowner’s association. Awhile back, one of my neighbors left some “shapes” unmowed in his yard, a valentine’s present to his wife. Ironically, I’d done the same thing in my backyard that week where no one could see them. The H.A. started sending him notices though, saying it was unsightly, and he had to go to a couple of meetings and fight them to keep from getting fined. He did win, but at some effort. At the time I was the Yard Beautification Committee, so I gave him Yard Of The Month.
Very cool snake. When we buy a house with a yard, if it has a grass yard in the front, I thought of doing something similar. I would like to have a slightly flattened S-curve going through the yard. I would mow and stuff on either side, but let the S go to ‘wild’. I read that it’s nice for the birds and other critters. You beat me to it! (Way bigger yard than I imagine I’ll ever have, too!)
