I need a free pop 3 email address

I know I can sign up for many free email services but is there any that I can just check w/ outlook exp. It looks like most require you to log on to their site.

If you know of some sites that fit the bill, I would like to know the least invasive one (requires least signup info and sends least amount of spam.
Thanx

Try http://www.mailandnews.com. They provide POP3 and IMAP access, and have been around a while.

Yahoo offers IMAP and POP access, and only seems to send 1 piece of spam per week, tops. They actually claim once a week, but in the month or so that I’ve been using POP3 from them, I’ve gotten 1 spam.

You can use Outlook Express to send and receive using a Hotmail account. I have a bunch of different accounts and have come to the conclusion that who hosts it has little if anything to do with how much spam you get. I get tons of spam at my yahoo account. I have accounts which I have opened months ago and never used and never received a single piece of SPAM. Mostly I receive spam in proportion to how much I use the addresses. And it makes sense because your email passes through many servers who can just collect the addresses.

The problem with most free POP3 email accounts is they will allow you to receive freely but will put some hurdles into sending so spammers cannot use their accounts.

I use gmx.net
You can also have .de, .co.uk and other European domains… it’s got web access and POP access… it’s fast and gives you 10 megs… best thing I ever did was switching…

http://www.postmark.net is the one I use for both POP and web access…it doesn’t attach any advertisements to the signature of your e-mails but it does require you sign up for three mailing lists. I get about four or five e-mails from those mailing lists each week but it’s easy to just trash them.

I use yahoo accounts. It’s sometimes convenient to have the ability to access your mail by either method.

I get no spam at all at my yahoo account, and I use it everywhere. I tried a hotmail account for a little while, then stopped using it about a year ago, and I still get tons of spam there. If there’s any company that’s going to sell your address, it’s microsoft.

I have the POP3 option from Yahoo that Flymaster mentioned. It’s great! Also, it’s often faster than my other POP mail from work. Test messages sent both ways arrive back to me sometimes a day faster on the Yahoo side.

The one email they send is well marked, so you can filter it out if you want, but I found it useful - Yahoo gets all the A-rated advertisers, so it’s real offers, not come-ons.
