The Walking Dead.
I quite liked Forever, with that guy I absolutely couldn’t stand as Mr Fantastic. Everything else has been mentioned.
Why didn’t you like Dark Matter, Anaamika?
FWIW, your post interested me and so I looked-up Dark Matter on IMBD.
The premise of this show seems very attractive. So, I’m going to try and watch a few epis and I have a feeling that I may really enjoy this. It seems like you enjoyed it too. Can you tell us about your reactions to this show?
Huh. I’m not sure how far you got in JJ. The level of sex drops off pretty dramatically after about the third or fourth episode; I don’t think there are more than half a dozen or so sex scenes in the entire first season.
“It’s like a cheesier Firefly (+ FTL & androids) where the crew starts with amnesia” succinctly captures everything I liked about it - it played out exactly like many spaceship theatre-style LARPs I’ve played, and that’s a good thing.
Also, the captain is very, very, very hot.
If you don’t like bad people you won’t like Fargo. Great show, but not for you.
I also recommend The Knick, The Librarians, Murdoch Mysteries and Miss Fisher’s Mysteries.
OMG! Three “verys”? OK. In that case, I’m going to get right on this. Now I’m really excited!
Forgot the Cowboy Bebop-related recommendations…There isn’t a whole lot of of anime on Netflix, and since Cowboy Bebop is one of the greatest anime series of all time, it’s hard to come up with matches. However, I would say the following:
Morbito, Guardian of the Spirit: Short (12 eps), but tight series set in an expy of Heian-era Japan where magic and spirits are real. Perhaps my favorite recent anime series.
Noragami: Set in modern Tokyo, which is also home to forgotten Shinto deities and spirits, and reminiscent of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods.
Durarara: A shy reserved kid moves to Tokyo (ikebukuro, to be precise) to go to prep school and finds that, just beneath the surface, there’s a whole network of unnatural and supernatural characters who are also just trying to make it in the big city.
Silver Spoon: A very good fish-out-of-water comedy. After failing his entrance exams for an elite high school, the main character decides to transfer to an agricultural high school in rural Hokkaido, thinking he will have an easy time with the non-challenging schoolwork (and be far away from his domineering father).
Rick and Morty is a great animated sf spoof on Cartoon Channel: Adult Swim Comic Con 2013 Rick and Morty Preview - YouTube.
And Archer is a great animated spy spoof on FX: Archer - Office Etiquette PSA - Season 1 Extras - YouTube
Check 'em out!
I would put a heavy recomendation for sword art online, first season is on netflix.
Kicked myself for not watching this show sooner.
Declan
Big recomendation for z nation, the liberty bell and wisconsin cheese will never be the same any more.

Forgot Sword Art Online. There’s also Attack on Titan, but the unrelentingly grim tone doesn’t fit with the OPs likes.
Holy shit, so many great recommendations! Ok, a few answers:
-
I tried Torchwood. I don’t know how anybody in the entire world could stomach more than five minutes of Gwen, she is so goddamn annoying and almost makes me hate Welsh people.
-
I love Sherlock and don’t know how I missed it in the OP. I would cheerily have the show’s babies.
-
Sense8 was also full of sex and I didn’t get very far in it. I don’t like sex where the characters aren’t developed or their romance isn’t. Actually if I want to watch sex, I’ll specifically go for that. Sex in my sci-fi is just annoying.
-
Black Mirror I loved and have watched every episode so far.
-
Ghost in the Shell I love.
-
Doc Martin. I watched this religiously for five seasons but they did two things they always seem to do: make the woman want babies like crazy, and make her a totally crazy, mean, pregnant lady. We were supposed to sympathize with her but she was such a bitch to the Doc that we got annoyed. Really ruined a very good show.

Archer struck me as really racist, and the 4-5 anti-Indian jokes in episode 1 really turned me off. I have a thread around here about how much it did so.
-
Dark Matter. I will give it a try again. I have tried to watch the first episode like four times and I can’t even seem to finish it. Nothing about the characters or people get my attention…but I know I haven’t given it a fair shot.
As to the rest, I am excited to try all these new shows!
I remember that thread. It’s not that Archer is racist; it’s just exuberantly and emphatically politically incorrect across the board.
Half a suggestion: “The 4400”. Watch the first two seasons and don’t bother with the second two.
I just came back to say: I added a bunch of the DVD only shows to my queue (at least Season 1) to see if I liked them.
In the meantime, I have started iZombie, which the pilot was really cute and funny…and sweet and serious, too! I also started Being Human (UK). Like it too.
I am continuing Master of None. I like it, it strikes painfully close to home (though technically I am not a second generation immigrant but a first gen). But it certainly resonates with my life in many ways. I like that there is an Indian, Asian, and a black woman as leads. I like Denise - she is unapologetic about everything she is.
So - thank you!
Archer isn’t racist. But Archer sure is.
I used to be a lot more tolerant about anti-Indian racism. I just laughed it off. I guess in my middle age I’ve grown more sensitive. Even then, I might laugh, but FIVE curry jokes in five minutes was just too annoying and I turned it off.
With a whole wide world of great TV out there, I don’t need to watch anything I don’t like.
You have great taste!
Sterling Archer is everything bad, and everything funny.
