Which of these TV series is worth watching?

I’ve been watching the Doctor Who reboot and Torchwood and I like 'em both, more or less.

Which other series should I be looking into? Other recommendations appreciated! Let’s stick to the fantasy/sf sort of genre, although I am positively NOT INTERESTED in anything to do with zombies. Time travel, vampires, dystopia or “civilization breaking down” stories, but no zombies!

And I’ve heard Lost and Revolution are garbage, so let’s give those a pass, also.

Poll to follow…

Where is the "None of the Above’ option?

Which is the one with the dinosaurs? (Is there more than one?) Portal or something?

Which is the one with Denethor as a literally mad (crazy) scientist?

Ew, none of the above.

Jericho – started bad, became good, then died untimely and wilth many storylines unresolved. A fun ride while it lasted.
Battlestar Galactica – first two seasons were some of the best SF television ever made – after than, declining quality but still worthy.
Game of Thrones - ridiculously good.

ETA: The Dresden Files was just plain incoherent to me, but I found out later they broadcast the episodes out of order.

Moving from IMHO to Cafe Society.

Eureka started off good. First two seasons were very interesting. And then, meh.

I’d junk Supernatural and True Blood from your list, you seem to be more interested in a more mature, science-y based sort of thing. Supernatural is just ‘dudes on an adventure’ that happens to have supernatural elements - if you wouldn’t watch that normally, I’m not sure if the supernatural stuff would be enough to keep you interested.

True Blood is just a soap opera that happens to have vampires, witches, shapeshifters and fairies. If you can’t stand weird romantic drama, you’re gonna have a bad time.

I haven’t watched it, but Lost Girl has been getting some good reviews. Modern day setting with supernatural detectives.

Fringe

NOT sci-fi, but you might enjoy Sherlock, it’s by one of the team from Doctor Who.
Also the British Being Human - a vampire, werewolf and ghost share a house…

I loved the first season of Fringe, then they moved it to a timeslot where my DVR was max’ed out. I tried to keep up on Hulu, but fell behind the “latest 5 episodes” that were freely available and gave up on it.

It’s one of those shows I hope to catch up on someday…

I saw a cartoon describing Game of Thrones as “The West Wing in medieval England. Your parents will love it.”

'Cause I loved The West Wing.

Check out Lost Girl. It’s between seasons right now, so it’s a nice time to pick it up from netflix, if it’s available there. Canadian urban fantasy (in the manner of Charles de Lint’s every novel, or Emma Bull’s War for the Oaks) about the “fae”. Seems to be a catchall for just about any sort of mythical critter you can think of (though almost all take basically unremarkable, albeit attractive, human form). There are Light Fae and there are Dark Fae, who interact with the human world in fundamentally different ways… but it’s not that you’d call either side exactly “good”. Our protagonist is Bo, a succubus who is unaligned and mostly goes around fixing fae problems.

I’m rubbish at describing shows, but it’s really quite good. I swear.

Oh, forgot to mention–it plays in the states on Sci-Fi.

What series was about the guy who was trapped in a very small spaceship (I think his fellow astronauts were killed) and he warps into another universe or something?

I don’t know why, but I am totally hooked on Dead Like Me.

I liked that show and was sad when it was canceled.

Haven

Planet of the Apes? Buck Rogers? Farscape? Smallville?

People should watch Saving Grace.

Primeval. They’re making a US spinoff version, the trailer of which is here.
