I need a super easy way to keep a ring on a necklace...

Lemmy.

Hoped you would catch that one. :.)

Avon used to sell stackable rings a while ago. They were two-piece rings, a single stone ring, and an outer “frame” ring with surrounding smaller stones. You could wear either by itself, or combine the two by slotting the smaller ring inside the larger one. Why not ask a jeweler if they could craft a frame ring you could wear on a chain? The slot would point upwards so your ring wouldn’t fall out, and it could be worn either as a suspended locket or as a pendant, something like this:

The frame could even be a little tighter so it could keep a stronger grip on your ring, but without scratching the metal.

I just want to point out that swapping a ring from your finger to a necklace on a regular basis sounds like a ***fantastic ***way to assure you lose it within a year.

I suppose there is some risk, but I think it’s doubtful, just considering the nature of how I tend to be with rings. I tend to play with them and touch them constantly, and so I’d notice immediately if it was missing. Add to that my extreme paranoia of having it fall off and thus my tendency to intentionally keep my fingers touching or tucked under or keep my thumb touching the palm side of my ring while walking around and stuff, and I think it’s unlikely that it would just fall off while I was wearing it. As for losing it by misplacing it, that’s why I’m going to have a specific thing that I do with it that is always the same [necklace] so that there is a routine that gets it from my finger to its secure place and back again.

I think it’s much more likely that I’d damage it with tools, solvents, plaster, clay, etc. by wearing it while I’m doing those things than that I’d lose it.

I thought of you, and this thread, in a jewellry store last week, as I thought I found an answer. And lo and behold, the thread resurfaced so I can reply without worrying if I have woken a zombie :)!

These are effectively very pretty double lobsterclaws. I like the dichroic glass one best (4th in top row, just mouseover, no direct link). You could use the small claw to attach it to the chain of your choice, so it hung down. Then when you needed to take the rings off your hand, you could just slip them onto the larger claw.

Are we gettting nearer?

Ooooh those are pretty! And yes, as I mentioned, several of the things that have been found and posted will work. I haven’t picked one yet or bought it… partially due to indecisiveness, partially due to not having tons of extra cash at the moment.

Try a locket. This one has a lobster clasp, but you could also get a pretty one you liked on a necklace that was large enough to hold your ring when you didn’t want it on your finger.

We’ve already discussed why I don’t want a locket several times.

Can’t you just put it on your watchband?

Oh, do tell us again! I *never *get tired of that story.

This is inappropriate for any forum other than the Pit. Knock it off.

I don’t own a watch, but even if I did, I’d probably take it off for most of the same activities that I would take my ring off for.

In that case, maybe you could just put it in your pocket.

Contrapuntal and Darth Nader:

It just keeps going and going and going and going…

No, it doesn’t keep going. It stops now, so unless you’re here to honestly participate in this thread, keep your comments confined to the Pit.

Participation may include commentary, no? Provided that it does not violate any of the rules for good behavior?

The cry for attention this thread seems to represent for the OP is worrisome. But equally worrisome is how the OP behaves as if the denizens of this board are her loyal subjects, whose contributions and offerings are to be evaluated and dismissed or accepted at whim.

Most worrisome is that said denizens are allowing this to happen.

I have no new suggestions for a ring-necklace-connector thingy.

Why?
