I need a word!

Not two. D’oh! :smack:

Mush? Mushy? Mush rock? Airhead? Monkee-like? Frou-frou? Crap city?

Sorry, it’s been awhile since I tried to pass myself off as a 14-year old girl.

I think the problem is with the word “scorned”: “scorned” isn’t a typicalyear old word ,and so it isn’t going to go well with a typcal 14 year old word: if she is the type of girl who says "scorned, then she’s the type of girl that says “innane”.

How about "the type of music she wrote off as fluff (or as glitter-girly or as teenie-bopper or as sissy).

Cheesy?

Are we going to get to read this story? I’m sure many of us Dopers are curious to see what you’ve written.

Lame?

Trite? Bubblegum?

gay

(in the sense that teenagers use the word. Hey, I didn’t invent it, I’m just reporting my observation of language that teens are likely to use – besides, it gives the story an ironic twist.)

crap(py).

In the same vein as sludge, how about glurge?

Pap.

No, no; she doesn’t say “scorned”: the narrator does. I wanted a slang term to end the sentence and impose her tone over that of the omniscient narrator. Gettest thou the point?

“Glitter-girly” is a possibility, though.

Q.E.D: I’d like to show you my stuff; really, I would. Especially since I’m interested in getting feedback, and Mr. Rilch, Friend, and Friend Across Town, though good judges of style, always have their own stuff going on.

But I worry about: 1) Having my stuff floating around the net where it can get jacked 2) Boring the socks off people 3) Coming to depend on someone’s feedback and having them suddenly lose interest.

If you know of a feasible way, I’d be glad to shared my attempts with y’all!

FranticMad: I already said I didn’t want to do that. I know it’s common, but I want to get this thing published.

kambucta: That just might work. Of course, it’s not the precise definition of the word, but it would hardly be the first time that a teenager co-opted a word or phrase.

Thanks, all, for your input!

Or, to combine thoughts from AllShookDown and Orange Skinner, sap pap crap.

Go to a forum inhabited by the type of girlies you are talking about, if you can think what sort of music she doesn’t think are crap, you could go to a fan site for that. Otherwise almost any ezboard. Embrace your inner troll and post a thread asking what they think of said song. Collect the words with a net. One similar to the ones butterfly catchers and asylum employees use would probably be best.

No reason you can’t put it on your webspace. By creating a work, you automatically hold the copyright, and as long as you can document that, you’re covered. Most people think you have to register a copyright for it to take effect, but that’s merely and additional safetly measure. You could also email it to interested parties. But it’s up to you. I’m just curious.

Q.E.D., check your e-mail.

As a sixteen year old girl, I think that corny, cheesy, and lame might be said.

Plastic?

Dreck?

Good ones, all!
