I need some advice please.

Hiya all…

I need a new job. I am currently employed as a Children’s Photographer for a local Western Australian company. I’ve been with them for nearly 5 years. There is no chance of advancement and I feel like I am treading water going nowhere. Now I’m not unemployed yet, but I am looking for advice on a possible job.

So. What I was thinking was, I’ll list my skills, talents, likes and dislikes, throw them into the SDMB blender and see what people suggest.

These things won’t be in any order but I’ll try and make some sense of them…

I am good with children – I’ve been working with them since I was 14.
I have almost limitless patience.
I am polite, well mannered and easy to get along with.
I am professional with shop staff (we work in shopping malls and the like).

I have a good listening ear and will hear anybody out.
I keep confidences.
I am usually able to give common sense advice.

I can take good portraits / weddings.
I have good money handling skills.
I have good paperwork skills (at work at least) my room / desk at home looks like a tornado went thru it.

I form good working relationships with members of the company.
I like helping people.
I enjoy seeing new people every day
I enjoy travelling, but not as much as I do in my current job.
I dislike office work – clerical and so forth
I am not able to do labor type jobs – brickies assistant and so on. (stuffed knees and overweight / fitness issues)

I can’t think of any more at the moment.

Please feel free to suggest away.

It seems that teaching children is one prospect.

I thought of teaching children, too. Perhaps working with underprivledged children or for Social Services?

If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, what about one of those daytime play centers like Discovery Zone or Smartplay?

Do you have any musical skills? Could you teach kids music? Kindgergarten classroom assistant?

I can sing, but can’t read music.
I can do scales on the Piano, but couldn’t tell you what note I’m playing.
I was thinking along the lines of a counsellor for children, not a psycologist, but something like that…
