I need to make a bad taste "joke" about the recent Roe/Wade issue

Another victory for the pro-birth part of the death cult of evil. Yay.

Since abortions are now going to be illegal, and contraception is next, with sexual education in school being frowned upon anyway, I guess “post-natal-abortions” are going to be the next big thing?

“Oops, just when I wanted to put my legally owned (and ready-to-fire, of course) gun into the safe, I accidently pulled the trigger and shot my unwanted baby I only had because I didn’t afford/know about/were allowed to buy contraceptions. Too bad, thoughts and prayers, horrible accident, etc…”

Also, because I think it’s fitting, here’s a nice image:

Also, also - I always have to think of the opening scene of the movie “Fortress”, where a pregnant woman is trying to get across borders wearing a lead jacket to prevent the x-ray from finding out she’s pregnant.

Right, so much for that. Had to get it off my chest, even if it doesn’t really affect me at all - I’m not living in this, sorry, third world country, and I’m male anyway (also white, and not poor, living, as John Scalzi so nicely put it, life in the “lowest difficulty setting”).

Well this is in bad taste too. Apologies (but I am trying to make a serious points.)

Republicans believe in saving the unborn at any cost, but don’t mind them being shot to death in school.

They don’t even wait that long. They’d like to get rid of SNAP, WIC,welfare of any kind.
Once born, the little bastards can starve for all they care.

You can’t terminate them before birth but you can with a pistol once they are born. We’ve seen that often enough. It’s just a whoopsie and no charges. No joke for you, sorry.

Fully protected by the Second Amendment,

It seems to me that White suburbanites will always have access to abortions. It’s been said that abortion bans will hit Black and Brown people the hardest. Anti-choice states seem to be populated by people who don’t like Black or Brown people. So they pass laws to make more of them.

Every Night & every Morn
Some to Misery are Born
Every Morn and every Night
Some are Born to sweet delight
Some are Born to sweet delight
Some are Born to Endless Night

Those in the Endless Night group will grow up to be among the have-nots, and they won’t be living lives of gratitude toward the haves.

Red states have a plan for the surplus brown babies.

‘What’s that?’ he asked in his caffeine-deficient state.

Slavery, bring back traditional family values.

The 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

I mean, it’s right there in the CotUS!

And one thing red staters have is a deep abiding love of the Constitution. Sorry, I mean a deep abiding love of fried stuff and making brown people do all the work.

Paper bags: Good for draining away the grease from fried foods and determining who the untermenschen are!

They’re the fucking worst.

Seems like an appropriate place for this tweet from Arianna Huffington.

What, regular shootings aren’t good enough anymore?

It’s the liberals that are hell-bent on getting rid of the death penalty, which is the ultimate consequence. If we conservatives had our way, every murderer would be executed. It’s the liberals who believe in coddling criminals.

Think of all of those victims coming back to life after their killers are killed!

I’ve been trying for years to articulate this pattern. It’s like, conservative “Family Values” are rooted in this real 18th C set of ideas about what “family” means and a belief in a just world. For one thing, “family” is a unit and sins of the fathers most certainly pass down. So if you made a poor choice and had sex you shouldn’t have had, it’s important that you can’t abort, so that you have “consequences”. And it’s important that those kids starve, because that’s part of your punishment–watching the continuing consequences of your actions. That the children in this scenario are blameless is not relevant. Their suffering is appropriate, even necessary, because it serves the greater good of providing an example to others. It’s not that they don’t care, exactly, but that they don’t think it has anything to do with them: it’s just nature’s way.

There’s also this idea that if you need help, your family should provide it. If they can’t or won’t, well, then, either you are a part of a bad family who doesn’t deserve help (because of generations of bad choices) or there is something wrong with you that no family will help you. Good people come from good families. It wasn’t that long ago that “good” people worried about their children being friends with children from “broken homes”, because families like that have clearly messed up somewhere.

This is also part of the conservative response to sexual harassment and assault: you shouldn’t go through the legal system, but your father/brothers/husband should directly confront the guy and administer punishment. If no one is willing to do that, then either it was really your fault and the menfolk recognize that, or you are such a worthless transgressive woman that no one will fight for you–so you don’t deserve protection.

And I think they would say that if a 12 year old is “truly blameless” in her pregnancy, God will end the pregnancy, or she will have a “good family” that can take her to a state where it’s legal. If a 12 year old doesn’t, then that must be the just outcome. So they aren’t worried about the implications of total bans.

You’re convicted of having SEX!!!
