I Need Your Help With My Job

I have a sincere request for you all.
I’ve talked about it a fair amount, but if you don’t know, I’m a DJ at an Adult Contempary radio station.

I do the morning show at 580 EZ Rock here in Salmon Arm.
We changed our format and the demand for information has never been greater.
I get reams of info from various sources daily, but I think it lacks what I really need.

Our demographic is 30-54 yr old female, with children, time starved and so on.

What I’m looking for is help and suggestions on what affects her daily life, or maybe you heard something that you think would be of interest to me. I’ll need telephone numbers from your town…for exotic phone call day. Perhaps you ran across a wonderful site on the web you think would be a help to me.

I’ll put a local spin on any info I recieve from you, and of course I’ll give you full credit on my show. I’ll even clip it and put on the web so you can hear it.
What do ya’ll say? Give me a hand?

So what specifically are you looking for? Web sites? What phone numbers do you want? I’m confused.

Anything you think I’d find interesting. I wouldn’t need phone #'s unless I asked for them…to compliment an idea I have.
Remember, our demographic (target listener) is a female aged between 30 and 54.

That could be a real wide range of things Jimmy. If most of the listeners are housewives staying with their kids, you could do anything from fun activities with kids to cooking a gourmet meal in 15 minutes or less. How to not look like the harried housewife when your man gets home. Ideas for getting that man involved when he does come home after a long day at the office.

Something they did on the radio here that I thought was cute was they had wives phone in during the morning show and what they had to do to win a dinner out was call their spouses at work and convince them to come home for a quicky at lunch. Damn it was hilarious. In the time it went on I don’t think I heard one man turn it down.

Yup…I heard about that. I don’t think that would fly here though.

You’re in Edmonton?? There’s an EZ Rock there I think…do you listen?

I am in Edmonton and do listen to the EZ Rock station sometimes. I have one station I listen to in the car on the way to work and then at home listen to the EZ Rock station.

Wow I figured there would be lots of good ideas in here with all the creative minds at the board!

Well, most of the moms on my moms e-mail list are in their 30s, and they all (obviously) have kids. They all seem to go ape over great internet deals, especially on kids clothes, toys, diapers, etc. Granted, they’re already very “plugged in” but I’ve got to believe there might be an interest in this among radio listeners.

I get a little sick of it, actually, but boy do the e-mails FLY on my list when some drugstore site or some toy site has a sale. Maybe if you had an “internet bargain tip of the day” or “Tip of the week” that might be nifty. And to get this info, most of the moms who are into this go to http://www.flamingoworld.com or mycoupons.com.

Otherwise, I like to hear about things that are going on–appropriate for families–that aren’t otherwise well publicized. Like, sheep-shearing day at the petting farm. Or some special program at the library. Or a melon festival at some podunk town 20 miles away. Or an open house at the airport. That sort of thing. I always hear about those things too late, and if our local radio station was good about telling me about 'em, I’d listen every morning.

Sorry I can’t come up with anything less lame. Maybe someone else’s post will spark other ideas in my mushy brain.

Cranky…thank you for the help.

I’ll check out that site.

You could also try and run a section with At-home dads, and check in once or twice a week, talking about how they’re coping with, and asking for suggestions on stuff he is unsure of.

I’m a voluntary DJ on a Hospital Radio Station in my area. THere’s lots of things I think of but cannot do.

That’s a good idea about the single Dads. Thank you Mr. Larrigan.

How about some places in the area that offer pamper packages or moms night out or something like that?

Recently, my neighbor told me the guy, who manages a radio station, in back is really noisy. I told her to record his noise (some of it when he is having sex cuz he is really loud! Oh yeah! Oh Yeah!) & I would put it on a cd & she could mail it to the station & then request it. Really.

Yup…we put packages like that together for our listeners all the time…thats more of a contest thing…

Anyone want to win txts to the brand new race track?? Hotel, breakfast, and seats above the pits…Call 250-832-7010 NOW!!!

Hiya Jimmy…

How about I come over and we make lots of noise and the listeners guess what we are doing?? blush

Are you looking more for stuff to talk about between songs? Or for contests/audience participation??

Recently they had a thing where people recorded their kids singing popular songs (witht the wrong lyrics!!) and played them on the radio - what a scream!

My youngest sings Brittney Spears “Hit me baby, one more time” as : KICK your babies one more time!!!

(still thinking that JimmyNipples needs to move to the east coast…)

Ahem Miss Kelli… we like him here in the West

Ya gots to love it when the babes are fightin’ over ya.

That kid lyrics thing sound like a great bit!!!
That is what I’m looking for…perfect! Kelli…yer the bees knees!

I had my daughter (she was 5 at the time) trying to say our call letters…well, I won’t try and explain it…

I’ll let you hear it if you like. If I have time today, I’ll mp3 it to my sound clip page…I’ll post a link soon.

Here’s that link:

My daughter was a sweetie when it came to do this tedious chore. She came out smiling though!!

Let me try that again…
