I now reside in the wonderful country of Deutschland.

This is for anyone who cares, and if you don’t, then TOUGH.

Well, it’s official: I now live in Germany. I’ve been here a week, and so far I like it a lot…just got my drivers license for over here and picked up my car.

I found a fantastic place to live, about 1800 sq feet, 3 br, marble tile floors (except in the bedrooms, which are carpeted) and wood ceilings.

I drove on the Autobahn for the first time today, and wanted to see what my car could do, and I got up to about 120 MPH before slowing back down again…just don’t want to kill my car by cruising that fast. Anyway, when I was going 115, I GOT PASSED. This might take some getting used to.

Well, that’s all.

'Night!

Hmm. With all those square feet, looks like you could use a roommate! Seriously, the new life sounds wonderful. And Germany has some beautiful sights/sites!

True story. I went to Berlin for a weekend and stayed 14 years.

Yeah, I think you’ll like it.

Hey, Jman, you’re in K-town. What a great place. Go look at the 23d Regiment monument on the main drag–as spooky a war memorial as you will ever see. Go out to Panzer Kaserne on the east end of Pariser St and see the heads sculpted in the stonework just under the roof over hang. Go have dinner at the Barbarosa Hoff, at the Wald Pension up the dirt road that runs up the hill just beside the Barbarosa–they do a wonderful ramschnitzel with pom frits that are to die for. Go to the grocery store in the basement of Hertie’s department store. Go watch the Erste Foosball Club Kaiserslautern in action. Stay away from the Piccolo Bar and the French enlisted men’s club. Go look at the 5th Cuirassier’s compound and their museum. Do not under any circumstances use the autobahn exit marked " nur feur militar fartzeug" unless you are driving something green, you might get shot. Do not argue with the policemen who wear long green leather top coats. Go have a beer at the Spinraddle, the only building down town that survived 1944-1945 in one piece.

Have a great time!

Jman:

I want you.

The end.

“Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt, Denn das ist meine Welt—Und sonst gar nichts!”

Eve:

I want you.

The End.

Fickle.

Oh. Unles you meant a three-way . . .

Enjoy the Liebkase.

Hey, JMan, that’s where my mom lived when my sister was born. (Well, she was born in Landstul.)

My mom wants to know if the fountain is still there. (The one right in the middle of town.) She hasn’t been there since '64, and I’ve never met someone who lived there.

I grew up in K-Town. Small world. Do they have the Christmas market set up yet? (My friends and I used to cut classes and go there to buy beer and Gluehwein. Ha! Good fun!)

Hey everyone…

jarbabyj, sorry, I’m taken, but you can come visit any time.

Skerri, I haven’t toured around the town enough to know exactly where you’re referring to, but I haven’t seen a major fountain in the area…though that doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Suspenderzzz, The Weinahchtsmarkt is in the process of being set up, as of Friday night. I’ll definitely have to try the Gluehwein.

Spavined Gelding, thanks for the tips. Just so you know, FCK got killed by FC Bayern yesterday. It was worse than the 2-0 score would indicate, from what I saw of the highlights.

Anyway, I’m off to drive around more.

Jman

Weinschnitzel! Eis! Beienstich! (That one I can’t spell, but it is a geat cake with caramelized almonds on top and a layer of cream inside. Yummy, as is anything you get from a German bakery.)

Have a wonderful time, Jman, and try not to gain as much weight as I would.

Hey, Jman, when you get a weekend, go on down to Bavaria and visit AFRC Chiemsee. And go to Garmisch. And don’t forget the Eagle’s Nest. God, I miss Germany…

I miss Germany too! I lived on the base in Lahr (now closed) from 90-93, and I miss it so much!!! Can I come visit? Please?
