i Pad alternative?

Well, just don’t count on the 3G connection for downloading large apps, tv shows or movies.

$25 a month for 2gb of data.
Average Movie = 2gb.

Or as I told one individual who bragged about letting their kids download a movie in their vehicle; “Congratulations, you just paid $25 to download a movie”.

With kids in the car on a long trip, I’d pay $50.

Seriously though, the ATT limit is a major problem, but verizon is going to be selling the iPad shortly. ATT is Apples biggest problem with mobile devices. OTOH, while Verizon has great coverage and unlimited service plans, in my experience their customer service is shit.

Eh no. Sorry. It doesn’t compare to my netbook, and certainly not to my desktop.

It’s MUCH slower in rendering, it’s much more limited (no flash/silverlight/input sucks) lacks multi-tasking and tabbed browsing.

As I mentioned the iPad is competent in this regard, but it sure as heck isn’t “just as good”. Not by a mile.

This thread makes me sad for the crunchpad.

My wife’s iPad is WAY better than my Dell Mini 9 NetBook at web surfing (expect for Flash, which I have turned off on all of my machines).

BTW, the Nook Color has been rooted, and is enjoying some interest as a “pretty good” Android tablet for cheap, if you’re into that sort of thing:
