I paid off my van!

Finally, after 6 years. It’s a 1995 Nissan Quest with 175000 miles on it, the AC doesn’t really work and the CD player is held in place by a carefully folded piece of paper but it’s mine all mine.

If I can just keep this puppy on the road for 1 year and save that car payment money I’ll have a nice downpayment on something newer. That’s my plan.

Now you’ve done it. By stating that, you realize you all but guaranteed a major repair bill in the near future.

But are you still living DOWN BY THE RIVER?

I know you’re right but I just keep hoping I’ll be the exception to the rule. Could happen.

I sure this is reference I should be getting but I’ve been whooshed. Care to share?

Preview is my friend. Really. I love preview.

Almost as much as I love messed up coding.

Congratulations!

The down by the river thing was from an old Chris Farley SNL sketch, a character who was a piss-poor motivational speaker who would scream at his audience about living in a van, down by the river.

A major repair bill is better then a whole 'nother new car, considering you’re average major repair bill could be in the range of $1000-$3000, compared to that of a new vehicle $13,000-$40,000.

sorry… your average, not you’re…

See, preview is your friend too. Preview is a friend to all of us.

I didn’t watch SNL much during the Chris Farley years so I’m sure I missed that. I also have never seen Eddie Murphy do his Velvet Jones sketch. Weird, huh? When I picked that name (for my former rock band) I thought it was a complete original idea :wally

Anyway, I agree that a major repair is cheaper but let’s keep those fingers crossed anyway. Maybe I’ll get lucky. 1 year. That’s all I’m asking for.
