I passed my driving test!

Threads on this topic are generally submitted by 16-year-olds. I am a week shy of 28. But I am no less giddy simply because I’m older.

No, I didn’t think the questions were going to be, on a strictly intellectual level, HARD. But I just couldn’t get comfortable with the idea that I could fail the test because I didn’t happen to remember the speed limit in an alley or something else similarly inconsequential.

I couldn’t really put it off any longer. I had already put it off too long. You’re supposed to get your California driver’s license within 10 days of moving to the state. I’ve been here pushing four years. What motivated me was the fact that my Nebraska license was about to expire. Getting caught with an old license might not be too hairy – getting caught with an expired one would be.

I don’t really like my new driver’s license picture, though, and I quite liked my Nebraska one. Oh, well.

Ugh. Yeah, that’s next on my to-do list. I’ve been here working since February, so I shoulda gotten my CA license by now, but just haven’t bothered… not to mention my car is still registered in RI and has RI plates…

Glad to hear it wasn’t all that traumatic! Congrats.

Congratulations Snooooopy!

I’m very happy for you. And I live in WA, so I’m not even scared!

Scotti

I got my license at 16. Got my first car 13 years later (didn’t want one much, but finally bowed to the inevitable, as you did).

Now drive over to a used bookstore and buy all of Bill James’s books (see the Baseball DH thread in GQ)

Oh, I’ve had a car and a license for many years. I had to take the test because I moved to another state. A few years ago, I had to take the Nebraska test after moving from Kentucky. I like the fact that I’ve lived in different parts of the country, but I wish I could put the damn driver’s test behind me.

Gaah! I just finished Leonard Koppett’s “The Thinking Fan’s Guide To Baseball.” Don’t want to jump into another book. Reading hurts my brain.

Congrats!!

I took my tests 10 years ago, but I failed each of the writing, driving AND vision tests the first time !!! Guess I was too cocky and saw no need to study (or get glasses, beforehand). . oh yeah, and I ran over a rabbit during drivers training at my high school . . . not cool . . .

Go read some of James’s works. You won’t be sorry!
