Really. The actual X-Files!
Mrs. Pluto and I took a short holiday last week to Los Angeles and stayed with some friends of her family. The male half of our hosts is a cameraman for The X-Files and he took us down to the Fox Studios and let us clamber all over the sets. We peeked in Scully’s cupboards, sat at A.D. Skinner’s desk and thumbed through Mulder’s bookcase and, of course, his filing cabinets. We had hoped to be there on a day when they were filming but, unfortunately, they were either on location or not filming on the days we were there. (We missed them by one day – the day before we arrived and the day after we left they were filming at the studios.) So we missed our chance to mingle with the stars, but I did see the actual outside of Gillian Anderson’s trailer!
Also, the Fox commissary had Krispy Kreme doughnuts (unavailable in Seattle) so I begin to understand what all the fuss is about.
Other noted vacation sites: Pluto – The La Brea Tar Pits, and the Ice House, a comedy club in Pasadena; Mrs. Pluto – Two new malls, including shoe stores to allow her to add to her Imelda Marcos Memorial Shoe Collection.
A good time was had by all.
p.s. There are actual files in the X-Files cabinets. But the papers were wrapped in plastic wrappers and I didn’t think their indulgence at our presence extended far enough to unwrap them. However, it was obvious, even to me, that all your base are belong to us!
