Perfect name. I think you have been adopted.
One of my cats showed up on Valentine’s Day. Mewing at the door, weather forecast for that night three below zero F. I said “you’d better come in.”
Never did find out where he came from, though I tried. But he’s been here five years now. That first night I carried him in past resident cats screaming threats at him; but they’ve all been friends for years now.
Congratulations on your new household member!
(Emphasis mine.)
Such great news! I was going to subtly hint that, despite all you’ve already done for her, she’s been through so much already that it would be nice not to put her through another big transition. And since she has apparently bonded to you, that the best possible outcome would be that she would be yours!
You are a very good, kind person. She is beautiful and I’m going to cry. We do not deserve them, she came into your life for a reason.
Val has been in all night, slept on my bed with the rest of the dogs. Ate her breakfast, and I was proud that the other dogs didn’t try to help her finish because she was so much slower than they were. I left her in the yard when I went to feed the horse and barn cat, but she found a way out and followed me down. She apparently only stays when she wants to stay.

Hope you’ve got a large bed!
but you’ll certainly sleep warm in cold weather. Metaphorically as well as literally.
Queen-sized, but I’m a small person. And yes, they throw off the BTUs.

Thank you so much for this thread. Obviously what you did picking her up was great and taking care of her and potentially adopting her. But reporting on it in this thread is just as great. After the last 4 horrible weeks, this is so needed as it warms our hearts and gives a contented feeling. Thank you.
Yes! This belongs in the ‘things that made me smile today’ thread.
Seriously. We need one of these every week.
She’s doing very well. Actually I think the two female dogs that weren’t getting along are getting on better with her her. Stumpy, the dumped dog I picked up about 4 years ago, was harassing my older female dog. Now she’s running and playing tag with Valentine. An unexpected bonus!
I’m not leaving them alone at all at this point - she’s constantly being monitored. But things are very settled already.

It’s nice to see a happy ending for a change. Getting too rare these days. It’s great Val has found a happy home and the other doggos like her.
she looks like such a good girl.
I love the name!
Maybe Stumpy just needed somebody to play with. One reason I was rather glad when my Valentine’s Day cat showed up was that he gave one of the others somebody to wrestle with; his wrestling partners canine and feline had recently become ill and died leaving, at that time, one much older cat no longer up to it and one younger than he was but entirely unwilling to play wrestling games. (She hates to be picked up, also, though she likes to be patted. I think she’s got a thing about feeling restrained; I don’t know anything about her kittenhood.) But the Valentine’s cat and then later the Newest Addition both make good wrestling partners (plus which by now, five years later, the Must Wrestle cat is the Senior Cat and finally slowing down some.)
She has an appointment Monday for a wellness check, heartworm test (pray it’s negative), first round of vaccines and her chip. After that appointment I can schedule her spay.

She had her wellness visit with the vet today. Heartworm negative, thankfully. It’s endemic in the South. Started on her vaccines, got a microchip, and scheduled her spay. Valentine is here to stay.
The vet figures she’s just about a year old.

Yay! Wonderful news! I’m glad Valentine found you and vice versa!
Good dog!
Excellent human!
May you have many happy years together.
Good on you.
Apparently we have subscribed to Bast’s cat distribution service.
