Insert Angel’s “epiphany” speech here.
I don’t know why you want to run away to Canada; we’re in an earlier stage of the same disease afflicting the U.S… Alberta is currently a tire fire being run by an authoritarian with 91% party approval who wants to make it illegal for labour unions (but definitely NOT corporations) to make political donations, turns down federal health care money because not handing Trudeau a win is more important than adequate dental care, and wanted to pardon convoy garbage even though provincial premiers don’t have that power because freedom!!! We’re effectively a MAGA state.
Prayng that sickness does not slither over to BC.
I just don’t know how any self-respecting person of Hispanic descent could vote for trump after that rally at MSG. Oh, you may differentiate between “us” legal immigrants and “them” not legal immigrants, but I will assure you that the trumpists make no such distinctions. My advice to you is to make copies of your paperwork and carry one with you and keep the others with family and a trusted party, an attorney perhaps Otherwise, you may find yourself starring in your own personal remake of “Born in East LA”.
I think a lot of votes were sent in before MSG.
I think the “Leopards Won’t Eat My Face” Party welcomes all. Race, creed, color-As long as you are short sighted and stupid, their door is wide open.
Well, they do need to eat someones face after all. It’s their nature, keep your leopard friends close and you face meals closer sort of thing.
Jim Wright’s latest post at Stonekettle Station just about sums it all up.
I don’t understand how they could have even before that rally.
See post#188.
More so those born in 1488.
A good friend posted that he ran into an undocumented worker that his son’s construction company occasionally gives work to (my friend does bookkeeping and errands for his son). The guy told him how excited he was that Trump won. When asked why, he said because Trump would do so much for the economy! He had no conception of what his fate was going to be. Likely his fate would have been the same under any administration nowadays, but just goes to show the mindset of people.
While everything about Project 2025 is repugnant and regressive, and they certainly do want to take away significant rights from women, I haven’t seen any specific policy proposals on a national abortion ban, except for undefined “late-term” abortions… But yes, they want to ban the abortion drug mifepristone, and they do want to institute policies to make abortions more difficult and onerous.
If a large majority of women in this country had turned out to vote for their reproductive rights, and the fathers of daughters had done the same, then it would have been a landslide for Harris. Obviously they don’t care, so it wasn’t.
I’d love to have been able to ask this dumbass what specific policies he could articulate that Trump would enact to help the economy. This is where Trumpists always shut up and run away. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if they deport his dumb ass; at least he would experience an epiphany about his own ignorance.
Also Plan B, iirc.
Cool!
Now we can just ignore the last 50 years of them telling us that if they had the power they’d ban all abortions with no exceptions for rape, incest, or maternal health with criminal penalties for women and medical personal.
We totally dodged the bullet on this one!
Where are they gonna find 60 votes for that?
We know what he’s going to do for the economy. He’s going to give his patrons an enormous tax cut that every one of his cultists think will benefit them when they get rich (which they won’t), eliminate regulations, slap tariffs on a bunch of stuff, and when it all comes crashing down as it always does usually the Democrats do the hard work to fix it in the next term while taking all the blame for the economic hardships that come with it.
Only this time there will be no fix. This was it, the last election. With both houses of Congress, the courts, and Project 2025 in full effect, they no longer have any obligation to comply with the law or the Constitution. The monster can simply declare himself Emperor Donald I and there is nothing, NOTHING, we can do about it. If they declare that there will no longer be any elections, who can stop them? How can they be stopped?
It’s over. Done. They told us what they were going to do, explicitly. They might put some thin veneer of legitimacy on it, but in the end there will be a “national emergency” to justify the passing of emergency legislation (they might even have the stones to call it the Enabling Act), and just like that we’re in 1934 and even his cult will be surprised how easy it was.
Where are they gonna find 60 votes for that? /s
Why didn’t they do any of that in 2017, when they also had the Supreme Court and both houses of Congress?
I’m reminded of Norton I, Emperor of the U.S. and Protector of Mexico, whose mental faculties were probably on par with Trump’s. Only Norton was a harmless eccentric in San Francisco. Trump will undoubtedly be a harmful eccentric in Washington, D.C.
