“Yeah, it was tough on him, sure, but think of it as a big shiny Christmas present to everybody else in the world.”
A subset of the “out at 18” mindset, that’s who. Because it’s all about teaching them a lesson to fend for themselves, rack of debt, and live paycheck to paycheck (or welfare) for many many many years thereafter to truly build their character. Because that’s how you learn real responsibility in todays America.
Actually, yes, I stand by that paraphrased tautology. I am not sure if you realize, but many people consider this season to be a special family time. I never implied that it would be “peaches and cream” to be kicked out any other day, but for many it is subjectively worse to be put out when what seems like everyone else is sitting around a toasty fire singing carols with their loved ones.
So that’s what she’s missing? She has alienated her family so much that they have told her to pack her kit and go, but if she were to stay for Christmas it would be all puppy dogs and rainbows? I hardly think so.
You’re right about one thing. It’s entirely subjective. But in most cases a subjective point of view can be explained a bit more complexly then “It is because it is.”
