And I can believe that there are men who would try to take advantage of many things if they are able to.
Difference is, the whole point of tax fraud is that you have to keep it secret, and in order to participate in sports as a transwoman, you really can’t.
It’d be more like assuming that anyone who invests in the stock market does so in order to commit tax fraud. The person making the claim doesn’t really know how either taxes or the stock market works, but you can be sure that they have put more thought into it than you have and would do so if they could.
It’s easy, imo, to imagine crimes that are easy to do or only take a simple impulse to commit.
What @Aspidistra is suggesting is that the cost of transitioning, (up to roughly 30k in the US) is worth spending to earn the much smaller earnings of female athletes. Never mind any social or personal costs and time spent recovering and adjusting to a changed body.
All that to get paid at best like Naomi Osaka, which one list has at #12 among all athletes at 60 million, and less than 10% from playing the sport. Or Serena Williams who makes 41 million, but under 4% from playing. I suppose those are better than Djokovic who only earns 34 million, but 13% of that comes from playing (Federer made 90 million, but only . 03%(!) was from playing tennis.
Just looking at the salary gap page on Wikipedia, it seems you’d have to be a male athlete that can’t reach any professional league to hope that transitioning would be profitable.
You decided to come here and post that a specific athlete should not be allowed to compete as a woman. You had no evidence whatsoever to back up that she had any advantages. The only thing you had was this one mother who tried to sue and couldn’t get the suit going, simply because her kid said “it’s not fair.” And so she seeks out anti-trans groups to find the “facts” she wants to find, and makes a sob story video about how horrible she’s being treated.
That’s your basis for being so upset. One woman who tried to sue to help her daughter win at sports, with no evidence to back her up. Because her kid said “it’s not fair.” Someone who specifically sought out only information that confirmed her own biases. All the while ignoring that there were better cisgender female athletes than this one trans woman.
You’re upset about propaganda. You are upset because certain hate groups told you to be upset. Not because you have discovered any actual problem. You’re just easily emotionally manipulated, because you were already biased against trans people yourself.
I’ve said before that there is room for discussion. I fucking linked a video from a trans woman saying there was room for discussion. You seem to love videos. Have you watched it? Sure doesn’t seem like it, since you keep pushing the same nonsense. It seems like you just ignore anything that might suggest you’re wrong about this.
It sure seems like you just are using the trans athletics thing as an excuse to push your ideas that trans people are delusional and dangerous. And that the group who was getting all upset about it have that same goal.
Not one is actually interested in trying to find a way for trans athletes to play while keeping things fair–you know, the real issue here.
In short, it seems you just hate trans people, and are using the trans athletics thing as a way to push that. You admitted you don’t think trans women are women. And you continue to come up with scenarios that literally
D’OH! I can’t believe that for years I have been mentally pronouncing your name as though it rhymed with “fuzz eagle”. sometimes I can be remarkably slow on the uptake.
Until the “What does your username mean?” thread, I thought it was “Puzz Legal”, which I had no idea what that meant, but thought she was in the law profession in some capacity.
The main reason is that sports are segregated by biological sex. Not typically by fast twitch/slow twitch. In the latter if such leagues were established I’m sure that competing in the wrong league and obliterating the competition would be something that folks complained about.
This isn’t really the space for that, though. That sounds like a debate, and this is a Pit thread for a surprising transphobe. Of course, that debate has been done to death here in GD, IMHO, and in the Game Room.
Aspidistra never pinged my total asshole radar, and yet here we are.
Just a couple of days ago (IIRC), my wife and I were checking the news from the US when I noticed a headline about (again, IIRC) women’s soccer reaching some agreement to have their athletes paid on par with male soccer players. My immediate comment was, “Well, that’s the end of women’s pro soccer in America”. I agree they should be paid on par. The problem is society is still prejudiced against considering women’s sports on par with men’s sports and the women’s leagues for various sports will not be able to sustain par payment. It’s rather sad and I’d love to be proven wrong.
