In addition to the other campaign reform laws, wouldn’t it be cool if we could get a 8-week campaign cycle?

Besides, note that countries with short campaign cycles also don’t have “regular” elections. They dissolve parliaments in the middle of their terms and declare elections 8 weeks hence. That’s how you get an 8-week campaign cycle. US system would not allow it.
