Last night on Uk’s channel 4 there was a “live exorcism” under alledged scientific conditions after a documetary called “the real exorcist”. I watched as much of both as I could stand, then had to switch the box off.
The person being exorcised had been exorcised by the same “priest” before, and in all honesty seemed completely normal and not troubled in any way. The whole thing appeared staged to take in the gullible.
Please check that we are now in the 21st century, get real, there are no demons,. devils, gods, bogeymen, angels and exorcism does not work. To echo a statement made in another post, I was hoping for an age of rationality, instead the world and religious nutters of all types are becoming more outspoken and irrational.
IMHO everyone who has ever been exorcised has had a mental illness, not possession, not the work of the devil. The last thing an ill person needs is some idiot telling him/her that they are possessed by the devil.
I pit all you people preying on credulous fools and I pit the credulous fools for letting you.
What bothers me is that people who pretend to be serious television journalists constantly participate in non-dismissive shows about the purest nonsense. Peter Jennings was just on talking about UFOs like they weren’t complete bullshit. A week or two ago, Primetime Live perpetrated that “John of God” scam in a very anti-journalistic manner.
I know they want to get ratings, but it seems to me they’re afraid to really go after these kinds of things in an honest, hardball manner because they don’t want to offend their audience. I think it’s a very disturbing trend. How am I supposed to take these guys seriously when they’re covering a war? How can I trust them to call bullshit in the government when they don’t have the balls to call bullshit on devils and flying saucers?
