Actually the dummy analogy helped me to understand the victimless sex crime. What the decoys are in effect doing is constructing a virtual dummy which becomes the target of the predators. It makes sense that way.
I’m still chary of Perverted Justice though. Their vigilantism is far more unrestrained on their website without law enforcement looking over their shoulder.
Whatever you may believe about who I am in the world, rightly or wrongly, that’s fine.
But one thing I can’t legitimately be accused of is coming around here to take pot shots at the people I’m interacting with. In a decade of posting, you’d be hard pressed to find me being guilty of even a handful of the mildest personal insults, and all of them would have been sorely provoked by extreme personal attacks directed squarely at me.
I came into this thread to participate in the discussion. Despite the snide attitude you started from, I did so reasonably and thoughtfully, whether you agree with my position or not, there’s no question that I engaged yours directly. I did not shrink from it or dismiss it.
As I said earlier, we evidently come here for different purposes. Not only is mine not to make of others my target for derision, it is also not to volunteer to be that target for others.
Law enforcement has access to the same materials everyone else on the web does. If a anyone felt that PJ’s behaviors were illegal or violations of someones rights, PJ folks are not immune from prosecution or litigation.
All right, fair enough. I’m guilty of hauling your attitude from another thread into this one. While I think there are generally valid reasons for doing that, and a poster’s reputation is ultimately fair game at some point, I agree that in this thread you’ve been reasonable and any snarky sniping has been one-sided. So, I apologize for that, and I hope what I’ve posted on the subject of inchoate crimes has been of some value for you.
Thank you, Bricker, you just earned scads and scads of points.
It’s been an interesting discussion and I certainly did learn new things. But I do tend to let myself get caught up in interesting discussions like this as a way to avoid a stressed out list of things that need to be done so I will get back to that and see you in another thread on another day.
