I pit DrDeth

(Insert recessive gene joke here)

Also in the pronunciation thread, he writes this gem:

This is the reason why we spell Rhythm instead of Rime. English pedants wanting English to follow latin rules, But when I spell it like it should be (which is listed as an alternate spelling) posters here gave me a hard time.

Actually that post confused me. Rhythm and “rime” are, I think, unrelated words.

Oh, look at Mr. Prescriptivist over here.

Well, sure, one we got from French/Latin (which may have gotten it by way of Greek) and the other has Germanic roots but what’s important is that is mere pedantry in the face of DD’s awe inspiring deductive leaps that require only acceptance, not inspection

gud enuf

Or was he intent on comparing rhyme versus rime?

I’m sure that was the intent.

Another example of the same phenomenon is the spurious “b” in “debt” - Latin-envy

Debt is derived through the Middle English word dette, from the Old French dette or dete. Note the conspicuous absence of “b.” Some scholars in those dark days we refer to as the Middle Ages sure did. They knew that the word had its origin in the Latin word debitum, and they thought it should pay homage to that word—and they had the wherewithal to slip a “b” into both the English and French versions of the word. Despite the fact that the “b” had never been pronounced in either language, the spellings became established.

Well, thanks to my friend who let me know you are back, spreading your cowardly, ignorant racist lies again.

Look, I said my Father was in WW2- in the Pacific. He joined on Dec 8 1941 in the Philippines, got sick, and was shipped back home- then was sent back to the pacific- New Guinea and Philippines, etc. . He got the Philippine Defense medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal- both basically participation trophies. (Plus of course all the normal fruit salad of various Fronts= Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct, etc etc). You called my Fathers claim of having both those rather common medal "stolen valor’- like when some dude claims he got the Congressional Medal of Honor, but spent his time peeling spuds. No one claims he got some participation trophy medal who didnt. Of course you made that claim here in the BBQ Pit as you are a coward.

So I came here, and proved you wrong- with cites. No, not just MacArthur and his staff got out (they went by PT boat then airplane). The entire "Army Air corps "got out- they flew out. Why not? Some other few service members were taken also- if you watch “They were Expendable” (sorta based on real life) the two PT boat skippers were also flown out (you can verify that on Wikipedia- the real heroes the two stars were based on). In fact I gave you a link to a whole fucking BOOK on the subject, plus other cites.

But of course, being the cowardly little shitweasel you are- you didnt apologize. But you did shut up about it for a while- but here you are back again, spreading your cowardly racist lies- not about me- but about my Family and Father- which takes being an asshole to a whole new level. Yes, I called you a cowardly little shitweasel- but I would never insult your family.

Yeah, my Dad served in WW2. Not in the front lines, but as a NCO in a Headquarters unit, typing things and running orders to the front at times. Not a special hero- he won no medals for bravery or combat- but he just did his part- along with 12 million others- all of whom were heroes too.

I doubt their wisdom in doing that.

Where’s the racism?
I mean, no one’s called you an Orc . . . yet.

Who needs indirect evidence when the Guest of Honor outs himself?

I know, I thought he specifically said he blocked the pit from his feed.

He makes heroes out of the Imperial Japanese during WW2, which is like making heroes out of Hitler and the SS. is that being a racist? You decide.

But he has proven himself a liar right in these pages, and also a coward.

I mean, when I first said my Dad had those two participation medals, he could have remarked that he thought that was unlikely as only MacArthur got out, then i would have shown cites showing the "Army Air Corps’ also got out (my dad was in that branch). But instead- like the cowardly little lying shitweasel he is, he came to the Pit and accused my father of “stolen valor”. Btw- I have in a footlocker my dad’s medals, not that any of them are that rare or unusual.

I came here as one of my buddies told me that the lying cowardly shitweasel (my own words) had come back spreading his lies again. That poster thought TB was an asshole for attacking someone’s father. I agree.

Now I will go back to avoiding this cesspool of cowards and liars.

Funny enough, that is actually the precise scenario I had in mind. Great minds think alike.

Actually, it was the Libyans in the prime universe, but came the Iranians in the secondary universe. Kind of like how the Twin Pine Mall became the Lone Pine Mall.

(Not really, but it could work…)

He did.

He lied.

And made up some asinine excuse.

Kids: Don’t lie like that lying liar.

This is demonstrably false. You have never known what you are talking about in relation the military. It would behoove you to shut up about it.

I wonder why you don’t realize this is a story.

Or this.

And this.

You don’t have to make your lies so obvious. We all know you don’t have any buddies. Much less ones reading your pitting to inform you of things they find particularly egregious being said about you.

And fuck dude, either stop taking your meds or up the dosage. @TokyoBayer “makes heroes out of the Imperial Japanese during WW2”? That’s straight up delusional, even for you.

Maybe start taking them?

Hey, I’m a glutton for online punishment and assaults on logic. Let’s see if the thread guest of dishonor posts something even tangentially related to proof of that besmirching of @TokyoBayer .

Yeah, I don’t recall posting anything that could be construed as making heroes of the Imperial Japanese during WW2, but it should be pretty easy for him to cite it.

Oh my god. We’re not rehashing this again. It was far too much work the last time and tedious as hell for anyone who actually has a real life, and isn’t obsessed with all things Pacific War.

In brief, I wouldn’t have given a shit, but your stories over the years just didn’t make sense. Without all the boring details, over the years, you implied a special relationship between your father and MacArthur.

Your stories keep changing and not only are the completely implausible, they contradicted themselves.

Now you have a new shift in your narrative. Before it was that your father was working as a member of MacArthur’s staff, but today you are claiming that he was in the “Army Air Corp”.

This is interesting not only for the rookie mistake of getting the name of the organization wrong, although at least you didn’t call it the Air Force.

Mistake #1 It shouldn’t have been the Army Air Corp.

My bolding

That organization was superceded by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF or AAF)

My bolding about the creation date.

Mistake #2 Except, the real answer was the Far East Air Force

The Far East Air Force (FEAF) was the military aviation organization of the United States Army in the Philippines just prior to and at the beginning of World War II.
[/quote]

So was your father in MacArthur’s headquarters by special request of a top general or was he in the FEAF and later the AAF?

We aren’t going to go through all your tall tales again. Ain’t going to happen. Suffice to say, the stories are just too incredulous for them all to be true.

Either your father was making stuff up, or you are.

Or as a good friend just said:
