Sure. You’re a comprehensive imbecile who can’t fathom even the essentials what you read or come up with a rational argument based upon established fact or consistent rhetoric so instead you consistently sideline threads with ill-informed and often moronic arguments to the degree that borders either on intentional trolling or senseless inanity. You are one of the most obstinately ignorant and determinedly stupid human beings I have ever had the displeasure to interact with.
Stranger’s literary style is indeed eloquent, and serves as a reminder to not get on his bad side!
My interactions with DrDeth have been minimal in recent years, but his propensity to intentionally mangle English spelling is annoying and his repetitive and bogus arguments against gun control are tiresome and infuriating. They were all duly documented in the other thread (or, I guess I should say, one of the many other threads!).
I have to ask: is being wrong about ancient Roman history sufficient reason to pit someone? People make dumb yet inconsequential remarks in threads all the time. I know I do.
It’s the particular combination of parachuting into a thread, unasked, with a “well, actually, you’re wrong” opinion which appears to be (a) itself wrong, and (b) sourced from a 10-second Google search, and (c) a hill he’s ready to die on, even though it’s the wrong hill, and unrelated to the thread at hand.
He’s a goober who appears to think that poorly-sourced sites make him into such a formidable genius that the rest of us are on the edge of our seats waiting to see what he’ll pull off Google next. But more than anything he appears to be consitutionally unable to listen, he’s just a one-way bullhorn.
I don’t believe that you are capable of honest debate of “an interesting historical issue” but this is your opportunity to prove me (and literally the consensus of historians of the Roman Republic and Empire) wrong. Show us all how you are so wicked smaht as to demonstrate how Cato the Younger was “was one of those responsible for the end of the Republic”.
I couldn’t say this of myself, but I might suppose that the thing about being smarter (and, by connection, more intellectually ethical than, sadly, too many others) is the point of choice where you either fight everything every time, or shrug and not give a fuck.
After a long life viewing the passing parade, it’s not necessary to react to every elephant turd as it’s dropped.
