Yeah from my perspective you’re the one being tedious. I think TokyoBayer’s historical insights are interesting, and I don’t know for sure if DrDeth is being honest or dishonest, or if his father was being honest or dishonest, or if there’s confused data, or maybe TokyoBayer is wrong, I don’t know enough about the individuals or the history to say for sure, but it seems interesting. The core thing is this is a Pit thread, and one of the things the subject is being pitted for is potentially lying about his dad’s WWII service record to trot out that lie as an argument to advance conspiracy theories in other threads. You may find investigating that claim and whether it is a lie or not “tedious”, but it seems pretty fucking on-point as to what the pit thread is about.
Maybe if you don’t like reading about it you could cry to yourself and/or just not open it? Your cry baby posts every 5 replies about how you don’t want to read anymore about DrDeth’s dad are more annoying than anything I’ve personally observed DrD doing.
Yup. But ownership of threads is dumb, so if I’m the only one finding the “Let’s track down some minor detail that proves DRDETH IS A BIG OLE LIAR ABOUT HIS DADDY” incredibly tedious, I’m happy to unsubscribe and bow out.
Of course, that’s not what it’s about. It’s about the larger picture of him claiming special knowledge and bolstering himself up to always be the expert in all areas. The nitpickiness of the details is a byproduct of challenging him on that behavior.
Why the fuck did you start this thread then? Do you remember who your audience is? Are cynical over-analyzers who may have different reasons from yours for thinking DrD is a jackass so intolerable? Is today contradiction day?
My audience, as with every pit thread I’ve ever started, was getting shit off my chest. I’ve never felt a need to win a popularity contest with a thread, and am if anything a little annoyed with this thread because I’ve gotten about 894 reminders that people have posted in it (I’ve turned them off now, which is nice, and I shoulda done that earlier).
As for why I started the thread? DrDeth was being a jackass about D&D and was denying the obvious fact that Gary Gygax did some racist shit. I’m glad other folks care about WW2, and impatient that other folks give a shit about his dad, and resigned to the fact that this thread is now all about the confluence between the two, so unless/until it changes to something I care about, buhbye.
