I pit DrDeth

I must say I never thought about getting suspended so your Pit thread would be closed.
Well played DrDeth, well played indeed!

Really? Because he comes across as a bit of a cyclepath himself HEYOOOOOOOOO

Like he did with previous suspension? What’s this, his third?

Just easing the sting of the thread closing.

I’m here for 8 more hours. Try the veal.

Springs eternal, man.

Patterned after the Swedish Prison System.

I wonder if there are any examples of posters who were suspended a couple times or more and then actually changed. People who are capable of change probably do so before needing to be suspended.

Are we saying an physician can not heal himself?

I think before suspensions were a thing, there were a few who were banned and had their request to be un-banned granted. @lissener, for one.

Since there is no new content from this poster to slag off, could someone please do me a solid and tell me why this particular poster is so reviled by the community.

Cliffs Notes please!

He intentionally inverts the usage of English’s two indefinite articles.

I say we hang him!

Username checks out.

Bertrand Russell is spinning in his grave.

In addition to that. he has a habit of making improper calls to authority. Such as citing his dad for the source of very unlikely (or impossible) claims, or insisting that an anecdote should be taken as evidence. And then he will get very upset and take it personal when anyone questions them. He especially had a persecution complex about his dad for some time. (Think of Bobby Boucher, the main character from the film The Waterboy, getting angry when people questioned things his mom told him, such as alligators being angry because they don’t have toothbrushes for all of their teeth.)

He also has a frequent problem coming into an issue mid-discussion, confusing things or missing part of the discussion, then reacting poorly when people try to correct him. I believe this most recent suspension is because of that behavior.

The time I had him on ignore was also for similar behavior; he came into a discussion where I had made a mistake, had been corrected, and acknowledged the mistake. He came into the thread much later and started needling me about the mistake. Frankly it pissed me off and I snapped a bit, got noted, and put him on ignore, because it wasn’t just a mistake, he was being a complete asshole about it. I took him off ignore since he seemed to be making an attempt to improve some of his behaviors, and I hadn’t had any problems with him since doing so.

(I’ve only had 2 people on ignore ever, and currently have 1 person on ignore. It takes a lot for me to do that.)

ETA: Also, due to people discussing him in the Pit, he hates the BBQ Pit, and has been on a crusade to get it shut down. He has tackled that with his usual dogged unreasoning tenacity and been in trouble for that too. Despite the fact that some people actually defend him here from time to time. He doesn’t take criticism very well, clearly. (I guess that describes almost anyone, but I mean he doesn’t take even gentle guidance well.) Though every now and then he does act decent and admits a mistake and even apologizes, he shows his humanity from time to time, but not that often.

He doesn’t. He never uses an. It’s not an inversion, it’s being too dumb to remember the rule so using a every single time.

My mistake - I thought I saw that he was inverting them.

No native English speaker is ‘too dumb’ to use a/an correctly. That’s not a thing. He’s doing it on purpose.

Sometimes coming in with something he found via Google without bothering to verify the result(s) then reacting poorly when people point out that the he’s not supported by his own cite(s).

Yet he has no problem with the Pit when it suits some point he’s trying to make.
