I Pit Gastroenteritis (mild, not pit-worthy)

It’s been ages since I’ve had any strain of the Flu, so I was overdue for one, and hoo boy, I gots me a doozie!

fever ranging from 99.8 to 101.2
severe stomach cramps (you know that scene in Alien when John Hurt has the Xenomorph burst out of his stomach ) yeah, kinda’ like that, I couldn’t find a comfortable position to rest in, laying on my back hurt, on my side hurt, leaning against a table was the only marginally comfortable position, and only for a few minutes at a time…

oh yes, and the vomiting…
I’ve been “worshiping the Porcelain Og” since midnight of last night, midnight to 5 AM, non-stop vomiting, I could barely keep water down

At least my co-workers were understanding, thank Og, I’ve taken a sick day, which is rare for me, but I need the rest, and I don’t want to infect my co-workers with this thing

as of 12:30, I still am feverish (99.3), but at least the pain is essentially gone, more or less, I’ve been pounding down water, alka-seltzer helps too, but even thinking about food makes me nauseous (No, Russ, stop thinking about Twinkie-Wiener-Sandwiches, oog, there I go again, time to visit the Porcelain Og…)

hopefully, i’ll have this thing under control by tomorrow, I don’t want to have to take any more sick days (even though I have a bunch of them banked)

Mods, feel free to move this thread where you see fit, it’s not Pit worthy, MPSIMS seemed the best fit to me, but what do I know, I’m all feverish and oogy right now

I feel your pain.

I have had gastroenteritis exactly once in my life and hope I never get it again. I got severely dehydrated overnight. How dehydrated? Well, at the ER, when the nurse wiped my arm with a cotton ball to start my IV, she left a dent and if you pinched my skin anywhere, it stayed pinched up. The headache from that was almost as bad as the spinal headache I’d had after my second son was born.

I wasn’t able to eat for seven full days, and could only start taking water on about the fourth day. On the plus side, I lost weight. On the down side, it wrecked my intestines; I couldn’t handle dairy products for a long time.
