I pit Jerome R. Corsi, and his Lying, Stupid Fucking Swiftboat Book.

Some background on Jerome Corsi:

So? They generally wouldn’t vote for a Dem anyway.

How “few” do you think they are? She had just about as much support in the primaries as he did - including a goodly fraction who were energized by her but cool towards Obama, just like vice versa. Obama needs them all, and more. Biden, however, has never excited anyone at all. He brings no support to the ticket, just some possible insulation against the GOP’s inexperience and riskiness charges. But even that amounts to letting your opponents define you and your strategy.

In case that was for me: Dude, what the fuck? I mean seriously, what the fuck?

Elvis, there’s a difference between voting against someone and being energized against someone. When you’re energized against someone, you not only vote against them, you campaign against them, you try to get others to vote against them, you drive people to the polls, you register new voters, etc.

More than half of the Clinton voters have switched to Obama. Of the rest, more than half are still undecided. Of those, there are some who are not going to vote for Obama even if he stands on his head and sings the Hallelujah Chorus backwards. At this point they don’t care about the issues or HRC either; they just care about indulging themselves in being pissed off. But I think those are a small number. Most of the rest will probably come around to Obama, and having Joe Biden at Obama’s back will help reassure some of those who may be concerned about Obama’s experience, just as Cheney reassured some about W in 2000. Of course, that didn’t work out too well, but that was then and them. Unlike Cheney, Biden is an open, straight-talking person who has a net worth of between $100 and $150 K; he’s clearly not owned by anyone, and obviously Obama has both the understanding and the will to do the driving himself, with Biden as advisor, rather than puppeteer.

You *really *think that’s thought-through and accurate? :dubious: The notion that there can be no plausible and acceptable reasons for someone to reach a different conclusion than you is not ever helpful to winning them over to your cause.

Last poll I saw said about 25% of Clinton supporters were actually considering McCain, and a similar number were now undecided. Now I gotta go find it, huh?

Those concerned about other things, not so much. Those concerned that Biden has the wrong kind of experience, not at all.

Seriously, what is the difference between “then and them” and “now and our guys”?

Unlike Cheney? That is exactly what Cheney looked like 8 years ago, except for the wealth part. That can be portrayed as failure.

Straight-talking? The guy can’t shut up.

Jesus Christ, I’m looking forward to November 5. Then we can stop eggshelling around the bitter Clinton supporters, either way it goes…

There’s other approaches you could take in the meanwhile, ones that might actually be helpful. A bit of reflection and you might hit on one or two…

Or not.

Reflection on what? I still haven’t heard a single coherent explanation for why Hillary supporters think they’ve been wronged.

I mean, I suppose I COULD bow and kowtow and strew rose petals before you, in hopes of attracting your vote. I COULD preface every sentence I speak with “May Hillary be praised and worshipped”. I COULD carry around a photo of Hillary and kiss it every three steps, like the monks at the beginning of Holy Grail smack their Bible to their forehead.

But I don’t think so.

Or you could discuss issues and priorities, and approaches to leadership and problem-solving.

Like a grown-up would.

Them and their opposites, the will-Hillary-go-on-a-rampage types, are beyond annoying.

Obama’s platform is nearly identical to Hillary’s. Hillary herself has asked them to support Obama, and done so quite enthusiastically. Obama has done just about everything possible to indicate that he admires and respects her; he didn’t vet her because her life has been out in the open since 1992 - any dirt there is to find has long since come out.

So yes, I’d say that the majority of people who are choosing to support someone else or no one over Obama because HRC wasn’t nominated are basically just enjoying RO. And I’ve seen some of them come out and say that it’s irrelevant what HRC says herself now. Of course, some of these are also Republican infiltrators. And the pundits keep trying to play up this great divide because it gives them something to talk about.

He may occasionally talk too much (something of which he is aware), but no one ever accuses him of being manipulative, or crying crocodile tears. If anything, his flaw is that he’s a tad too blunt. Just as we used to see McCain back in 2000, before he decided that becoming President was more important than a few little principles.

Hillary: 18,000,000 votes.
Biden: < 250,000 (or so I heard)

What’s so hard to undderstand?

Because that’s not how the system works, you stupid little motherfucking troll.

Not too many people are all that fond of the Electoral College, but everyone who understands it is quite aware that the popular vote doesn’t matter. Same thing. But even you’re aware of that.

-Joe

Hey, Joe, he’s not stupid, little, or a troll.

Magellan, of those 18,000,000 voters, more than half are overlaps with Barack Obama. Even more are overlaps with Joe Biden. But the choice for VP isn’t as simple as your VP choice would bring along every vote s/he got in the primary. There are a small number of primary voters who won’t vote for Obama even if he picks HRC as his VEEP. They no longer care, and nothing Obama does is going to reach them.

Obama is not terribly comfortable with Hillary Clinton on a personal level. That’s no reflection on either of them. It’s simply a fact. I doubt she’s terribly comfortable with him - in fact, if anything, I’d say she’s likely to be less comfortable with him than he with her. Biden is at least, if not more, qualified to be president as HRC. Obama is more comfortable with him. Obama has done everything short of genuflection to demonstrate his respect for and openness to hearing the Clinton voters. Why should he not choose Biden?

Because Biden doesn’t have the negatives HRC does, and that the right wing could exploit? Isn’t that what the fuss is really about? The Republicans wanted Obama to pick Clinton so bad they could taste it, because there are so many people out there who still hate that woman, and would have been up out of there barcaloungers campaigning against her in a way that they will never be to elect John McCain. But Obama was smart enough not to nominate her. I don’t know why so many people hate her, but they do, and America is stuck with that, Obama is stuck with that, and Obama is clear-eyed enough to recognize a fact before it hits him across the face like a wet fish.

Man, you’re a dumb fuck. The Electoral College is not the point here. I could just as easily have posted the delegates she accumulated. The point, Dumbfuck, was that her supporters—and many others—argue that because she did so well that she is the better choice for VP—that her nomination would consolidate and energize the party thereby improving the party’s—and Obama’s—chances of winning. Right or wrong, that’s a valid opinion. If you own a television and know how to turn it on you might have seen many Democratic pundits saying this over the last day and a half. My comment went specifically to Dio’s question, which it answers. But I guess you’re actually too stupid to realize any of this. So, carry on carrying the Idiot Flag in the Obama-is-better-than-Jesus parade.

Your dumbfuckness is astounding. Truly.

Two out of three ain’t bad.

Seriously, just because someone doesn’t agree doesn’t make them a villain or dishonest. It makes them somone who disagrees with you. One thing I do believe is that magellan believes what he is saying; he’s not just saying it to provoke response, so he is not a troll. I believe he’s wrong, misguided, mistaken, bewitched, bothered, and bewildered (he believes the same about me, btw). But not a troll.

ETA: Also, he’s not stupid, and I don’t think he’s little. I guess he could be, but there’s no particular reason to believe he is.

Were you just asleep when she did all she could to make Obama lose not just the primary, but the general election? Up to and including saying that McCain would make a better president? Were you asleep when she refused to go away even after it was impossible for her to win? Were you asleep through all of her sniveling, back handed remarks, mocking, lies, and Old Politics negative campaigning? After the completely classless and pathetic performance she showed in the primary, along with ol’ Bill, Obama doesn’t owe you people shit. Go away.

er, magellan isn’t part of “you people.” He is part of The Enemy[sup]TM[/sup], a Republican:D, albeit a social moderate.
