I agree, but it’s hard to be reasonable in circumstances like this.
I know it is wrong, but I do put different values on human life, and anyone who commits acts of violence on the elderly, children, the disabled or animals, is right at the bottom of my list for sympathy or empathy. .

You really must take into account the fact that this kid is 14. No, that doesn’t give him a free pass at all. But when you factor in his home life, parents and upbringing, plus any preexisting psychiatric conditions he may (or may not) have… The cat was mistreated and an unfortunate victim, there’s no doubt about that. But to suggest that he should be subject to the whims of the internet revenge squad, or have any kind of torturous punishment inflicted before an examination of the background, motivation, or facts is just absolutely :rolleyes:.
On the contrary, this kid has a lot of empathy coming from me. He’s clearly a fucked up individual who needs all the help he can get, not anonymous death threats from the far reaches of the internet.
Ok, I’ve watched the videos and fully agree – this is one seriously fucked up kid that society would be well-served never to see again.
That said, everyone realizes he’s not actually hitting the cat, right? It’s unquestionable that he’s abusing Dusty, but those manic “punches” are full-out pro-wrestling style…he’s pulling back on every shot. Yes, he’s slamming the cat against the wall, he’s spraying I-don’t-know-what in his eyes, he is without question torturing the cat – he’s just not really punching him.
I don’t want it to seem like I’m defending this walking turd – we had a cat who were horribly abused by previous owners, and it took years to get him to display some semblance of trust in people again. The camera was just making the abuse look worse than it was (for which I’m very thankful).
While a part of me wouldn’t mind seeing this jerk get a taste of his own medicine, I know that really wouldn’t help matters much and isn’t a healthy way of dealing with something like this.
I do hope that he is punished as severely as the law allows, and I hope he gets a really good counselor that manages to get through to him and teach him a little bit of empathy, if that’s even possible. Until then I don’t think he belongs in society. A racist that gets his kicks from torturing things isn’t the best person to have running around freely.
He’s probably going to be ostracized in school for this, too. Good luck getting a date when you’re the weird cat torturing guy. He’ll have certainly earned his position as a social outcast but I hope it doesn’t just make him worse.

The thing imo that makes this case SO bizarre is that not only did they torture the family pets (there were tapes of 2 different cats being tortured and charges have been filed for each) but these two budding serial killers are BROTHERS. One fucked up kid can always be explained as a fluke or a bad seed…but two brothers in one family who torture the family pet and call black people niggers: Major red flag.
I think CPS needs to do a major investigation into this household. The boys use the n-word SO freely and openly (they called Obama “our nigger president” and “the coon in the white house” on their myspace and facebook pages…before they were hacked). WTF kind of family is this??
Also in the video of the black and white cat being tortured (where they are not wearing the ski masks) you see in the background a bed that is covered with guns and rebel flags displayed on the walls.
BTW, the substance they were spraying in the cats’ eyes was Window Cleaner.
We can only wish very hard that they all came as dumb as these junior sociopaths, then we could lock them away safely, before they caused serious harm to something more than a pet.
