This is obviously part of the INTERNATIONAL olympic committees conspiracy to implement the NEW WORLD ORDER where all nationalities are one.
Phelps is part of this conspiracy because God Hates Flags.

When dealing with conspiracy theorists, they’re THE JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!
Your problem here, Shirley, is that you’re not wearing your Truth Glasses[tm].* Without them, you think that the Lakers won 2 games, then the Celtics won 2. But the Lakers obviously threw those second two games - which they should have won (experts agree!) - in order to make the series go to 7 games. But when you put your Truth Glasses[tm] on, the Lakers in fact won all those games, thus becoming, as our OP claims, “the first team to ever win the first 4 games of a 7 game series and still lose the series.”
I hope that clears it up for you.
I could see that Phelps won through the smoke rising from my bong. It must just be him.
There’s a big hunk of whoosh floating around out there. Thought I’d grab a chunk. Some of you guys can be so easy!
I read the Gawker article late at night and couldn’t quite figure out why they even posted it but what the heck.
That being said, not all is on the up and up in sports. Sorry I got the sequence of games wrong for the '84 NBA finals but it was a memory recall of 24 years ago and the point remains. It was said at the time (not by me) that the Lakers were the first team to win the first 4 games of a 7 game series and still lose the series.
[Shirley, listen to ShadowFacts. Now learn to think outside the box. Don’t be so quick to throw out labels like “dumbfuck” even if it is the Pit.]
I also heard it from very reliable sources in the boxing world that Liston got a slice of Ali’s future earnings.
When there’s as much money floating around it pays to be skeptical. Watched some women’s gymnastics last night and if you think everything is on the up and up in the Olympics you are absolutely nuts.
'Nuff said.
Well done.
oops
Naw.
I’m guessing drunk post and embarrased “I was just wooshin’ ya” morning-after.
Entertaining thread, and certainly…accurate in representation of many crazies’ craziness. And I’m not trying to get Spartydog in trouble, but isn’t this trolling?

I didn’t see it that way because I was linking to a (fairly) reliable, although very snarky site, Gawker.
My intent is/was to get people to look at things a little differently than what the established media feeds them. Does that make me a cynic? Yes!
Remember, I posted it in the Pit not on GD, or GQ.
Well, it makes you wrong. The jury’s out on everything else.
Well, to me, there’s more to being a “cynic” or “skeptic” than doubting the official story just because it’s the official story (or from a particular source). I go by the old (but still useful) “extraordinary claims” canard.
Cool. Real water polo.
I thought the story was finished but apparently it’s not. Here’s an article from today’s New York Times:
The article says that FINA won’t release the photos. I don’t know where the photos are from that accompany the article. In those photos it looks like Phelps lost.
So, now you’re back to saying you weren’t whooshing us, but you have a real conspiracy to complain about.
You’re a big fan of Emerson, aren’t you?
There’s still daylight between Cavic’s fingers and the wall there. I’m sorry, but this is still a dumb theory.
Never mind
No, I ran with the story from Gawker even though I was skeptical but I thought I’d go with it. I didn’t invent it. The general consensus among you guys was that I was crazy, everything is on the up and up, blah, blah, blah. I went on to point out that some pretty questionable things have gone on in sports so why not question this one (and I was having some fun with it).
Posters on the Board acted like they saw the photos and the evidence proved that Phelps won, like they really knew.
I took some ugly hits but, hey, it’s the Pit. (There are those here that can dish it out but they can’t take it.)
I thought it was the end of the story.
I didn’t even realize that FINA was refusing to release the photos. Then I pick up the NY Times today and see this story. Well, maybe it’s not so crazy after all. Maybe I’m rightfully cynical about what really goes on when there is a shitload of money to be made by having the ideal script play out.
Then I see ** Marley’s** post and it still looks to me like there is space between Phelp’s hand and the wall while Cavic is touching. I guess it’s all how you want to see it.
Just goes to show you that some people will stick to their guns no matter what. But you’ve been on the Internet long enough to know about that.
All you’d have to do is explain why the protests were dropped and a few other things.
Blow up the pictures and I think it’s reasonably clear that Cavic is very close to the wall, but hasn’t touched it - and that Phelps’ hands are moving much move quickly toward the wall than Cavic’s are.
“Stick to their guns”. I’m not sure what you mean.
Drop the protests? Easy. They all get in a room. A commitment of a few million dollars is made to be split among whomever. Protests dropped. The photos are buried. Everyone goes home happy and the storybook is written. The money rolls in.
Are we looking at the same photos? Phelps is on the left. Bottom pictures - You can’t see Phelp’s hand touching the wall even if it is. Cavic’s hand looks to be touching the wall even if it isn’t.
Hey, I didn’t resurrect this story. The New York Times saw fit to print it on the front page of the sports section this morning. I’m just the messenger.
