I pit Novelty Bobble

Exactly the opposite, I’d have been out on my arse or in jail years ago if that were the case.

I have done very, very similar in the past and will likely be doing so in the future. Plus risk assessments, investigations, proposals and much more.

I’ve seen all the criticisms and behaviours here before, many times. Never at me, but certainly at those who are seen in opposition.
Whenever the emotional investment rises, and whenever people are on the defensive or are predisposed to mistrust the others I see accusations of misunderstanding, misinterpretation, bad facts, lack of clarity etc. etc. when none actually exists.

You can have the same group of people arguing forcefully, still in opposition, but about an abstract concept or a problem with less emotional weight and never see those problems. Which is of course a technique that can be used successfully to counteract and take the steam out of a situation and build a degree of credibility.

Of course a lot of that relies upon an initial willingness of people to accept a degree of good faith and neutrality from me. My reputation ensures that in real life, the online world does not.
That’s fine. I don’t come into these discussions with that expectation and in most cases the debates I get into are for my education and diversion but are not necessarily for the benefit of those I am directly debating with, it isn’t in the expectation of changing those minds but it is for those who lurk, who look on, who would find the confrontation troubling but who get benefit from the opposite point of view, who would like to comment but can’t stand the pile-on and would take things personally.

No, and why would you? Letters of complaint are always more noteworthy, interesting and visible than letters of praise but if I had to bet I’d say you believe that I’m making them up.
It is naturally more emotionally comforting for you to think that. We all do it. To believe in their reality would present a challenge to what you currently think.

The thing about letters is that they’re tangible things that others can also view.

I’ve never shared personal correspondence with anyone ever before, I’m certainly not going to do so in this case.

For what it’s worth, I now largely skip past your posts entirely, as I have learned they are not worth the effort. They come across as if you’ve read a fair amount of the bullshit modern pseudo-philosophers like Jordan Peterson and have learned from their work that the best way to convey firm authority is to write in long, circuitous sentences which when untangled turn out to say very little. To whatever extent people in this thread have suggested that your baroque opacity obscures an unpleasant viewpoint, I don’t know if I can agree, because when I do spend the time to hack through your jungles of text, I find that you are rarely saying anything of real substance one way or another. In short, your writing bears the overwhelming odor of words expressed solely for the pleasure of hearing one’s own words, rather than for any purpose of genuine exchange. For what it’s worth.

I’m not criticizing your communication skills.

I’m going right to the heart of the purpose of your million word march for the Right to Say the N-word Without Losing Friends.

And you are tilting at windmills, it holds no weight. You might as well accuse me of fondling dolphins for the relevance that has. I’d pay it exactly the same regard.

And just to be clear, I have never been formally charged with fondling dolphins.

But we can read your posts, or at least some part of some of them. No one could possibly read through the mountain of drivel you post all the way through.

I might have missed the dolphin fucking ones. You don’t have to bowdlerize the f-word here, by the way. That’s not the banned word you’re all salty about.

So you stop part way through and fill in the blanks with what you imagine was said or meant? That would explain a lot.

That would be a humorous aside, not a serious accusation. And fondling is very different to fucking, and a funnier word to boot.

One might note that someone has not denied having been formally charged with fucking dolphins.

I think to confirm or deny would give the allegation a dignity it doesn’t deserve.

I’m starting to wonder if some of the positive feedback you claim to have received about your communication skills was satire that went right over your head.

Maybe he just doesn’t speak dolphin?

Always a possibility, but if it was, it very carefully disguised from people not given to such things and who were willing to back it up with bonuses and employment.
If that is satire I’m happy to be the but of the joke.

Pro Tip: “click click whistle click” means “no”.

<plaintive whine from Novelty’s client> But last time you locked me up because you said “No means no”

shit, I’m screwed.

So, do you write, “I know some chemicals are dangerous.” and leave it at that?

That’s what you are doing with your “some people would prefer…” You are insinuating that this is a belief that is held, with absolutely no evidence presented. If you would present your evidence, quote these “some people” then we can know where you are coming from.

With your insinuation, you leave us wondering what people you are talking about. Are you accusing us of being these “some people”, are these “some people” others in the thread, on the board? Or are these “some people” just a random group of people you overheard at 3am at a coffee shop? Or are these “some people” just caricatures that you made up in your head as to what “some people” think and don’t even exist outside of your imagination? What do these “some people” have to do with the conversation that is currently occuring with the people actually in this discussion? When you say, “I know” is that because they told you this, or is it a conclusion that you have come to based on what you have heard “some people” say?

Because I can say, having been around people of all stripes, including people on the left, far left, and far far left, I have never met these “some people” that you claim to be relevant to the discussion.

When you make these insinuations, you leave all these questions on the table. Would you like to clarify exactly who it is that you are talking about with “some people”, and to provide evidence for this?

Do you understand now why your factless vague accusations are solely inflammatory, and provide no actual information? Or are you just as clueless here as you are anywhere else?

As an aside, do you not know how to google? When I typed in 88 to google, the first link was to the ADL website explaining the significance of this. I tried it on a different computer that doesn’t get used for anything, and it came up the same. Right under the ADL website is a “people also ask, “What does 88 mean in slang”, and if you click that question, it says, " 88 is a white supremacist numerical code for “Heil Hitler .” H is the eighth letter of the alphabet, so 88 = HH = Heil Hitler. One of the most common white supremacist symbols, 88 is used throughout the entire white supremacist movement, not just neo-Nazis.”

Then there is the wikipedia page, which says, " In white nationalism and supremacism Neo-Nazis use the number 88 as an abbreviation for the Nazi salute Heil Hitler.[11] The letter H is eighth in the alphabet, whereby 88 becomes HH."

Unless you are incredibly stupid, I cannot see how you can make the claim that you just couldn’t find this information.

But they do call you sir as they come to you with tears in their eyes, right?
