If you simply find her posting style too annoying to bear, why not add her to your Ignore List? I’ve never used the function myself but it appears to be but a few clicks of the mouse and problem = solved.
If this is an attempt to get Opal to reconsider her contributions to more aptly fit into whatever format we’re all supposed to be following and then once she’s done so this place will be that much more wonderful, do you really think this will produce the intended result?

This is ONE FUCKING PIT THREAD. There haven’t been a series of Pit threads about Opal. There haven’t been massive amounts of “Oh, STFU, attention whore!” posts in the threads. I don’t get where this myth of “Oh, poor Opal, you all attack her SO MUCH” is coming from. Frankly, what I see much more of is “Oh, Opal asked another question that could easily be answered with Google. Here, let me Google it for her and spoonfeed her the information! And how DARE anyone point that out to her, she’s so oppressed, our Opal is!”
Do you people understand what the Pit is for? It’s for PITTING things that piss people off. If the response to every single Pitting is going to be “oh, just ignore him/her/it,” then let’s just shut the Pit down. Or create an automatic board function that closes every thread after it’s opened, with an automated “just ignore him/her/it” message.
Nobody expects people to change their behavior because of a Pit thread. That’s not what the Pit is for. It’s for blowing off steam. Opal’s built up a lot of Annoyance Points lately, so we’re venting. If you want to respond “just ignore her,” that’s fine, but then why don’t you just ignore this thread?

Frankly, I get annoyed reading a thread when someone says something and the next 20 posts are people jumping that person’s shit. Just ignore them if you don’t like them or their posting style. (Unless they’re one of those cat hating thread shitters.)
I can kind of see her point about people citing websites, though. Cites are all well and good but sometimes you just can’t read them, i.e. posting from iPhone, late for a meeting, too drunk, headachey or just not feeling it. Have a little sympathy for those people.
On a side note; I especially hate when it descends into a bunch of youtube links with “here” or “this”, who wants to wait 10 minutes to watch some video that will probably just end up being Rick Astley anyway before you can participate in a thread. Just summarize already! Can we pit that instead?

I mostly quoted you because you mentioned “the Opal Show”, and my reference to “you” is anyone who is giving the attention to the person in question by responding to them, like the OP.
My point was if someone bugs you and you call them out in the thread, you really are just giving them the attention you say they crave, not to mention hijacking the thread for the people that don’t give a fuck about the poster and actually want to read and participate in the subject of the goddamned thread.
I know it’s a crazy idea that there are people here who might actually like to read and participate in threads and stick to the subject of the thread (or at least related subjects) instead of making it a huge drama thing where you drag out all sorts of old butthurt about some poster and then trash the thread. Either ignore the person*, placate them or take your problems to PM’s or the pit right away.
*Seriously, he could have just ignored her request to summarize the article and left the thread relatively Opal Show free. Maybe she would have decided to read the cite for herself after all and we could have just gone on talking about wolves instead of Opal.

The point of the Pit is that she does that shit all the time. So, bringing it to the Pit allows for people to point out that she does that shit all the time.
So, don’t call people out in threads where they’re clearly acting ridiculous. Even if it’s just one single post. Oh, but don’t Pit them either, because that’s just stupid, and you’ll get told ‘just ignore them.’
