Honestly, it’s my own fault for letting this thread lower my morale. I keep thinking Democrats are worth communicating to, like they will actually listen, and they don’t. And I know this, because of decades of experience.
At least this thread has given me a lot more insight into why so many people have given up on voting. There’s a strong, visceral feeling of rejection when people assume they can act as shitty as they want to you because they count on you to be the bigger person.

ETA: I am still going to vote, most likely. But I am done with voluntary outreach. I used to persuade nonvoters. I (not single-handedly, it definitely took a village) helped get several people to vote for Kamala Harris even though they were unhappy about Gaza in 2024. I just don’t have that juice in me this year, though.
And, that decision isn’t just about this thread, but this thread keeps reminding me of how frustrating it is to try to communicate anything to my Democratic Senators, who I voted for. The Senators are the real problem. Little_Nemo just keeps me reminded of that.

If puts the onus on the person offended not on you the person doing the offending. A real apology would be “I apologize that I offended you.”

I can name one: Me. I told him right at the start that hysteria is offensive. He’s been told over and over and over. That it is a misogynistic word, and frankly not just offensive, but dismissive. He has been quite happy to continue using it and be extremely condescending. He even tells people from groups that attempt to explain to him what are and are not offensive to them, that they are wrong because … well because he says so. He’s a troll. Sorry if I offended you.
It would be easier for him to list those that agree with him. I’d be surprised if there were more than 5.
But I’m also interested in hearing him name all of the hysterical people.

That apology will not be forthcoming. I do not feel that the use of the word hysteria is automatically insulting to women. And the context in which I used it is not directed at women in particular. I feel it’s a legitimate term that can describe behavior exhibited by people of all genders.
As for my participation in any demonstrations tomorrow, they will not be contingent on anything you feel I owe to you. I do not agree I owe any debt in general and I do not agree I owe anything to you in particular.
