I pit over-the-top Anti-Trump hysteria

No, that’s not the problem I’m seeing here.

The problem I’m seeing is that somebody apparently thinks there’s an actual plan to feed sixty-five million people to alligators. And that Laura Loomer leaked the plan.

And who would it be that you’re strawmanning?

You were asked to post an example of a Republican making a genocide plan and that’s what you posted.

So I took you at your word and assumed you viewed this as an example of a Republican making a genocide plan.

Is Loomer not a Republican?
Is feeding every Hispanic in America to alligators not a plan?

So just to be clear here, you’re saying you have no evidence that genocide is being planned.

But you know it’s true because you KNOW it’s true.

No, it’s not a plan. It’s a racist joke.

Well, at least you’re acknowledging that Loomer is a Republican. So we’re making progress!

I never said she wasn’t a Republican.

Don’t ‘what you’re saying is…’ me. I said what I said, no more, no less.

That’s your mistake. Crowmanyclouds does nothing but post snarky half baked one liners in thread after thread. He offers nothing of substance, taking him literally or seriously is a fool’s errand.

No, of course not; and if you actually think it is, you’re even dumber than your posts make you look. Which is saying something.

Right. Now prepare for people misreading you making that distinction as you defending Laura Loomer.

Since your genocide detector is broken maybe you should sit this one out?

If she said that about American Jews would you dismiss it as a “bad joke”???

The guy who thinks that feeding millions of Hispanic citizens to alligators is a real plan is telling me that my genocide detector is broken. That’s fucking rich!

Yes, obviously!!! Do you think that Holocaust jokes are a new thing? I could name literally dozens of people who make jokes like that about Jews. Some are genuinely antisemitic (the same way that Laura Loomer is genuinely racist against Hispanics) and some are not.

The point is that I’m not going to act like a joke that Nick Fuentes made is my evidence for him being a Nazi. Fuentes makes those jokes, and aside from that he is a Nazi; other people also make those jokes, and it’s gross and wrong, but it doesn’t make them Nazis.

Laura Loomer is a disgusting ethnonationalist monster. What makes her a disgusting ethnonationalist monster is the actual policies she supports, which are bad enough on their own; not the delusion that a joke she made on Twitter is a real “plan”.

Trump has made appeals to manifest destiny, including one in his second inaugural address, but his arguments in favor of genocide in Gaza have been different. Rather than claiming that he is trying to create living space for settlers from Israel or the United States, he has made a business pitch to the world’s elite, casting them as the primary beneficiaries of genocide in Gaza.

When Trump first called for the United States to “take over the Gaza Strip,” he presented a vision in which Gaza would be completely emptied of Palestinians to become one of the most luxurious resort areas in the world.

“We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal,” the president said. Gaza can become “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

On social media, the president boasted that his plan would result in “one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth.”

Trump was not alone in his vision. David Friedman, who had been the U.S. ambassador to Israel during the first Trump administration, declared his support, even floating the idea of renaming Gaza after Mar-a-Lago, the president’s estate in Florida. Friedman’s suggestions for new names included Mar-a-Gaza and Gaz-a-Lago.

As for your general point that we should not point at things like that, because it will not be convincing:

Maybe you’re not familiar with the way cultural communication works.

Of course feeding sixty-five million people to five million alligators is not a plan.

That said, I hope you’re aware that jokes are often used to set the context and to prepare people for more serious discourse. Want to know if your new white friend is racist? Tell a couple of mildly racist jokes and see how he reacts. Then tell a couple of more hard-core ones. If he responds with “what the fuck, man?” you don’t bring it up again. If he responds by telling his own racist jokes, you might have that as common ground. I’d bet good money that Trump knows a LOT of racist and misogynist jokes.

It also sets up a rhertorical climate. Alligators will eat people, but as a rule they don’t. They eat animals. By suggesting that a certain category of people is suitable for feeding to alligators, you are rhetorically moving them away from human, and towards animals. It is a LOT easier to commit genocide if you’ve convinced your people that these aren’t real humans.

Anyone coming out of the gate with a feasible plan for mass murder is going to be stopped. But this is where it starts, and if you are in denial about that, it’s either because you don’t want to believe it, or because you’re ignorant of history. It’s not because you’ve examined the evidence in context and found it wanting.

Did I say that I don’t think that Laura Loomer is racist? I’m pretty sure I said the exact opposite, that she’s an odious, disgusting, ethnonationalist monster.

What I was responding to is the idea that she is a highly influential Republican revealing the plan to feed all of America’s Hispanic citizens to alligators.

No, what you do is tell a racist joke and see if he laughs. If he does laugh, you call the police and tell them he’s planning on murdering all the black people in your town.
