I pit over-the-top Anti-Trump hysteria

Who do you feel is the one poster who is saying this?

I’ll quote myself, more than 600 posts ago,

Okay, so according to you Der Trihs is the only poster that has said Trump is planning on committing genocide, restoring slavery, and/or starting a nuclear war. According to you nobody else has said this.

I got all of these within the first tenth of this thread. Do I need to go through the other ninety percent?

Aww, look at you moving your goal posts!

And, AIUI, Trump did ask about nuking N Korea (at some point every President will) and using nuclear weapons on hurricanes (at no point will any President) so . . . about those goal posts.

Nope, Gyrate moved the goalposts. I just used them to run in the game winning touchdown.

…I was just reading my emails when I got a notification that for some reason you had tagged me back into this thread. And you’ve quoted me as saying:

So if you are going to drag me back to these boards in order to make some sort of rhetorical point, I hope you do me the courtesy of engaging in good faith.

But I’m not seeing where I’m wrong here. Are you disagreeing with this? Why did you quote me?

Wow, that is quite the indiscriminate hodgepodge of quotes mostly saying things very different from the sort of extreme hyperbole you claim to be complaining about.

And no, it’s not hyperbole to observe that white nationalist anti-immigrant propaganda—-encouraged and amplified by people actually running the country, no less—-is genocidal in its intent and implications.

Nobody’s claiming that the Trump Administration is literally sending millions of Latino citizens and undocumented immigrants to gas chambers. But DHS agents have killed literally dozens of detainees in the past several months, and wrongfully detained thousands, including hundreds of US citizens, in a draconic system with inadequate accountability.

It is not in the least too soon to start worrying about the possibility of such abuses leading to overtly genocidal acts.

In a system where reported conditions are intentionally and willfully malicious (to the point that if it were a prison the warders would be looking at prison time themselves) in an attempt to goad people, some of whom are LEGALLY in the country, into self deportation.

Yeah. None of the remarks that @Little_Nemo quoted in that smorgasbord of alleged “hysteria” were actually hysterical or ludicrously exaggerated.

I can see how somebody not reading very carefully might get that impression from one or two of those remarks, such as @Spice_Weasel’s “genocide already happening” or @GIGObuster’s “making things deadly for millions”. But that’s much more about minor variations in interpretation and context than about “hysteria” or absurd overstatement. “Making things deadly for millions worldwide” is a completely accurate way to describe Trump’s torching of USAID and US WHO involvement, for example.

You left out the murder of two American citizens.

You’d have to be white to say that.

You’d have to be a man to say that. He absolutely supports an economy based upon the unpaid labor of women.

In his first administration, he openly and publicly complained many times that the generals wouldn’t let him use his nukes. He very much wanted to have the option of dropping one. Now he has generals (admirals) who are willing to invade a foreign country and kidnap their leader for him. Or bomb people clinging to the remains of their vessel in the middle of the Gulf.

Do you really believe he is not in the process of starting WWIII?

He keeps saying that he wants to commit an act of war against a fucking NATO country . . . but lets not get hysterical about that.

You mean Global Peace & Prosperity Action. Crime fighting not war, will bleat our unflappable Little_Nemo. You’ll getting all het up over nothing, will whine our intrepid Little_Nemo.

Look again. You’re spiking the ball in your own endzone.

You’ve been using “nuclear war” as a strawman since the beginning of this thread even though multiple people - myself included - have stated that we don’t think Trump wants an actual nuclear war (although he could bumble into one, something that sadly remains a possibility albeit fortunately still a remote one). But if you were honest, you wouldn’t be able to crow about how smart you are, right?

And no, you haven’t missed a nuclear war. But you do seem to have missed that we’re only one year into this administration and already saber-rattling about going to war with the rest of NATO and Iran (plus that whole Venezuela thing). Do you genuinely think things will get better in the next three years? Or is your plan that as long as the wars we keep getting into aren’t nuclear, to reach up and pat yourself on the back about your brilliance?

I certainly believe that you feel confident about this.

Actually two NATO countries. In for a penny, in for a pound.

But I digress.

More than two. But two white ones.

And, of course, they have maimed lots of people too:

Crowmanyclouds said that nobody other than Der Trihs had said that Trump is planning on committing genocide. So I was quoting a number of other posters who had said that Trump was planning on committing genocide or had already committed genocide. Your post was one of the ones I quoted.

No, you guys seem to have patting yourself on the back covered.

My plan is to do whatever I can to see Trump impeached, removed from office, arrested, tried, and imprisoned. To do this, we need to focus on voting Democrats into office in the 2026 election. And focus on the real crimes that Trump has actually committed.

…what I actually said.

Bolding mine.

I didn’t claim Trump was planning on committing genocide or had otherwise committed genocide. The nuance here is important. If I had intended to say either of these things, I would have just said it. But for the sake of clarity: Trump isn’t committing genocide. He (and his party) is just funding one and materially supporting it.

I look forward to your apology and withdrawal.

I want to be clear.

These are things you think Trump has done:

Funded a genocide.
Given approval to a genocide.
Materially supported a genocide.

These are things you think Trump has not done:

Planned a genocide.
Committed a genocide.

Is this correct?

I’ll admit I don’t see where you’re drawing the line. How, for example, does somebody fund a genocide without planning a genocide?
