Living in a tipping point state with a lot of electoral votes is no joy either. The Tampa Bay Times ran a story today about an ad by some PAC called “Government is Not God” where each an every point was either a lie or a damned lie. One example: Barack Hussein Obama (notice the use of the middle name) will “force police agencies to allow Muslim brotherhood to select staff.”
I’m past outrage at this point and now just depressed.
Like the OP, I am from Virginia. Three calls from the Romney campaign yesterday, usually one or two recordings from them each day. I’m not sure why Obama doesn’t love me enough to call, perhaps because I’m in northern VA and he is taking me for granted.
Watching TV, the ads are so thick it gives the impression that the candidates are debating in a school yard kind of way. An Obama ad says, “Mitt Romney is trying to destroy the middle class” then, the very next ad is Mitt saying, “I want to help build the middle class.” Which one is telling the turth? A little substance would be nice or at least let us get back to NCIS.
Central Ohio here. The artillery is flying as it does every four years. We are a famous battleground state. The last time the person that took Ohio lost was 1960’s Nixon vs. Kennedy. In the 2008 Democratic Primaries at one point both Obama and Clinton were in different high schools in the same city. (They could have settled it then and there!)
I miss most of them by not watching much TV, but you can’t block out the yard signs. There’s one house on the way to work that still has a Ron Paul sign. (Keep the faith!) Just about every day there’s also something in the mail with no information other than “Vote for me/Don’t vote for them!”
I wonder how many visits the candidates will make downtown just to screw with my commute.
Yes, those of you in other states have no idea what it’s like in Ohio. Not only do we have multiple ads in each commercial break, but we also get several phone calls every day. And don’t forget, *“No Republican has ever won without winning Ohio.” *How often do we have to be reminded about that . . . as if it actually means anything.
The only good thing is that there is a hell of a lot of money poured into this state. We need it.
