This reminds me of a “Married with Children” episode where Al mistakenly spiked the ball on the 5 yard line and got pancaked into the ground as his reward. LOL
That your teammate just elbowed in the head for what should have been a penalty but was missed.
The trainer didn’t grab Walker, he nudged him aside as he went to attend the injured player. The trainer was directly in front of Walker when Walker shoved him, in full view, obviously a member of the training staff. How long does it take to nudge someone aside? How can it take longer than a second?
You mean the trainers that go on the field repeatedly during the game, along with the other trainers who were already attending to the injured player? Right before a second Packer came up and bumped the trainer?
Nah, trying to make it sound like Walker was somehow caught up in the moment doesn’t fly. If he has that little control of his emotions, he’s too unstable to be on a football field.
The only person who gets my respect in this mess is Matt LaFleur. I’ve seen head coaches get upset at referees for ejecting players but no, he was shown on the sideline immediately yelling at Walker to “be smart” repeatedly. He also said after the game that his behavior was “unacceptable”. I expect that even if the NFL doesn’t discipline Walker, LaFleur will.
I will say, at least, that it was a good apology. He didn’t try to blame anyone else, it wasn’t “I’m sorry that I got caught”, he owned up to having screwed up, and said he needed to do better.
Mind you, I haven’t any idea who actually wrote it, and saying he needs to do better doesn’t matter much unless he actually does.
I’m amazed the NFL isn’t suspending him for that. I can’t imagine he’d have gotten away with it if he’d done that to a ref or coach. Why are medical staff less valued?
(I’m less amazed that the comments section of that Fox News article is a cesspool of racism )
Well, the penalty set up a Lions score and he was ejected which presumably affected the Packers defense as he was a starter. All that contributed to his team losing.
As a MN native, I’m in no way a Packer defender, but since there was actual injury to the trainer, I think the in-game consequences are probably sufficient.
Remember, the NFL reacted to this from New York and, at the time, didn’t have a whole lot of time to think about it. They may have very well talked to Walker about the incident and his disturbing pattern of behavior on the field some time after the game, and I’d be shocked if the NFL didn’t have him on a short leash when next season starts. I believe any similar incident next season will be met with a suspension.
Not sure if your question is rhetorical, but no, he was not suspended. He actually pushed a member of the Bills practice squad who was in street clothes on the sideline.
Back in Week 8, he was ejected after shoving a Bills practice squad player on the sideline after a play.
Exactly, it wasn’t an active player (so definitely keep away you jackass) but not a coach or trainer as I’ve seen a few people suggest. Not everyone on the sidelines out of uniform is a coach.
