One of our guests has a plagiarism problem. It’s weird how his post is on about a dozen sites around the net. What’s more troubling, though, is it seems that someone called “Grand Inquisitor,” a head mod over at Stormfront, has stolen this guest’s writing and posted it on that racist scumbag site!
This fine thread in GD, to which the guest has not deigned to return post-OP, has already generated two pages of thoughtful comment. Imagine the shock of SMDBers were they to google a piece of this essay and see how widespread the plagiarism of our guests’ fine writing can be.
I already reported the thread to two admins, and they can decide what to do. In the meanwhile, we’ll have to work harder to protect our upstanding guests from the thefty depredations of scumbag racist sites.
I don’t give a damn if the OP was posted by Adolf motherfucking Hitler himself, if it has generated a fine thread with two pages of thoughtful comments where’s the harm? If you think it’s racist I recon it should be so hard to ridicule it.
The OP was copied, verbatim and in its entirety, from an article that appears elsewhere on the web. The person who started the thread was not the author, so far as we are aware. This is a violation of our policy of respecting copyrights and the rights of authors.
Consequently, I deleted most of the material from the OP. I have also closed the thread. This was a quick fix, and seemed better than destroying the thread. The Moderators of the Great Debates forum can decide what to do – leave it locked, or reopen it, or disappear it. There hasn’t been time for discussion amongst the moderators, what with holidays and so forth.
Yes, the OP generated some interesting discussion, but that doesn’t help when the OP itself was not the posters original writing (although he presented it as though it were.)
