I think he understands perfectly well that nobody really is actually maligning his daughters, but it gives him a good excuse to not admit he’s wrong about Limbaugh.
It seems that dittoheads are the most averse of any media personality’s fans to admitting their god is capable of crassness and error. Rush is almost more of a cultleader than he is a talking head. I’ve lost count of the “out of context” apologists I’ve heard for him, who when shown “it is completely totally offensive within context” switch to “Well he’s right”- why can’t they just admit this guy with planks in both eyes is capable of being absolutely totally wrong on an issue?
Just noticed this. I have no doubt that, were a morality exception clause to go into effect, many employers and insurance companies would suddenly have moral objections to many procedures and medications that happen to be very expensive.
If anyone needs more proof of this, we have our own OMG a black conservative dishing it out right here. And even if Rush got shot by the heart attack gun today, there would always be another freak show conservative to step up and advocate hatred and punishment of women. There are many nasty snarling beasts in that herd, Rush is nothing special.
And now Bill O’Reilly weighs in! Yet another asshole who didn’t read the testimony and doesn’t have the faintest idea what he’s railing against, but by golly he’s busting at the seams to call some young woman a slut and here’s his big chance! Slut slut slut slut slut! Ahhh, now he feels better about himself.
And considering his penchant for falafel and Rush’s viagra laced exploits in the Dominican Republic, you’d figure they’d both be fine with sluts anyways. Maybe to them it’s a compliment.
Both of these quotes are perfect responses to Rush, O’Reilly, and any other drooling Neanderthal who uses slut-shaming to silence women for speaking up in support of access to a legal and appropriate medical treatment.
Calling women vile names when they speak out on parts of their lives that make people uncomfortable is a long and cherished tradition in the parts of society that believe that women should be barefoot and pregnant, and out of participation in public life.
The fact that men in all aspects of our society, in entertainment (if you’re going to continue to insist that Limbaugh is entertainment and not the spiritual leader of the GOP) and politics and general societal life, feel that they have the right to call ordinary women vicious names just for being ordinary indicates a continuing deep hatred of women that runs through our lives like a festering sore.
ALL use of birth control pills is medical, you moron.
This.
And this issue has nothing to do with taxes, you fucking troglodytes that say it does. It has to do with not holding women’s medical history hostage to uninvolved persons, men or women. It has to do with allowing women to have the same freedom to pursue medical treatments in consultation with their doctors without having outside people stick their noses in.
Y’all seem perfectly fine with decisions to force women to undergo unnecessary medical treatments (in the form of mandated ultrasounds prior to abortions) when it suits you, but scream “government intrusion in private morals!” when THAT suits you. All a part of the ongoing attempts to oppress women for daring to act like human beings.
I love how self-defeating his closing argument is. I quote:
“The progressive colossus is demanding payment for Mrs. Fluke so she can go through law school with a healthy social life”.
Fuck yeah. And ? You got a thing against healthy social lives, old man ? I mean, clearly you’re unfamiliar with them, but that’s no reason to be hatin’.
ETA: gotta say though, I admire the way he deflects the viagra issue. No but see, viagra corrects a medical issue, so it should be covered. But a contrario, the pill… I dunno, I give right the fuck up. I’m amazed he doesn’t wear a Guy Fawkes mask on his show, he’s trolling so well.
Oh, look, that paragon of political courage, Mitt Romney stopped dodging questions about the matter and has weighed in. Let’s see what he has to say in regards to Limbaugh’s vile misogyny:
Or a Jehova’s Witness who doesn’t want you to have blood transfusions. Or a Hindu who doesn’t won’t pay for a nutritionist who suggests meat. Or a Scientologist who won’t cover any psychiatric care. Or a New Ager who requires only Chackram-Adjustments. Or a Reiki believer who only allows foot massage. Or a Chiropractor true-believer who only allows back adjustments to treat cancer.
Many, if not all religions have utterly stupid beliefs associated with them. They shouldn’t determine the secular choices of non-believers.
I’m actually rather pleased, if you can be both horrified and pleased, by this entire kerfuffle. No longer can a disingenuous Republican claim that it isn’t about contraception or that it isn’t about shaming women.
Well, of course they can claim it. And of course they will. But I enjoy having evidence.
