Actually I hate the rat-bastids who broke into my apartment, stole my computer, printer & speakers, (my “LIFE”!), family heirloom jewelry, two tv remotes (wha???), a cellphone charger (ditto whaaaaa???). TWO cameras, etc.
Them sumbitches came back 10 days later AND STOLE MY CAR with my studded tires in back. Before I had time to get them mounted.
And now I got to write all this up for my pitiful renter’s/car insurance claim, which “might” give me micropennies on the dollar. !@#% _)(*&^^%%#$$%
Can you say ANGRY? ANXIOUS! BS !!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Fuck that shit. Shoot someone.
No seriously, I had my truck stolen not long ago that I saved up $5,000 dollars for while making $6 an hour when I was 15. I had planned to save it for my first son. It makes you feel completely violated. My condolences.
Thieves suck. Insurance sucks because they advertise like they can undo what’s just happened when all they can do is give you money for the stuff that’s been taken. They set the expectation way too high. But now you know, right? All they’re going to do is give you money. Most insurers will pay you for the extra set of tires as part of the car claim so remember to bring that up.
Sorry you got robbed though. It’s a pain in the ass. Change the locks on your home yet? I’m assuming they got your car by using a spare set of keys?
Oh, and you’ll be getting the fair market value for your car, so arm yourself with information. Pretend you were going to buy YOUR car from someone else, how much would you pay them?
Do the same thing for your robbery claim. Typically you’ll get a settlement for the market value of the USED stuff that was stolen (what would you pay someone for the used stuff?) BUT when you actually replace it you get an additional settlement for the NEW cost of the stuff. For example, $2,500 plasma TV now worth $1,500. You get $1,500. Produce a receipt for the new replacement (similar TV) for $3,000 and then you get the additional $1,500.
I’m Canadian, so things may be different up here, but I have to pay extra for a replacement value rider on my insurance. If I didn’t have that I would only be able to get the fair market value if my stuff was stolen regardless of whether I replaced it with new stuff. Is that not the case down there?
