I Pit Spineless "Corporate America"

Normally sponsor isn’t the same as always sponsor. What part of humor (however lame it is) don’t you get?

The lame part obviously  .

May I recommend to you The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists? It has a plotline strikingly reminiscent of the one you describe, and has the added bonus of containing a large quantity of pirates, not to mention hams.

Who sponsored the recent dinosaur exhibit? (I headed right for it when I finally got back to NY after nine years.)

The difference between sponsoring this and disaster relief is that a corporation could get its name on the materials, while it would be a bit tack to trumpet giving disaster aid. (That companies do give a lot of disaster aid shows the leaders are not all evil - many actually do care about this stuff, and do good quietly.) You’d think that some companies would want to appeal to that portion of the public who goes to a Darwin exhibit, which is likely better educated and with more spending money and influence than the set who would object.

I just read that book on Monday. Good, totally wacky humour!

I can’t believe I missed the sarcasm in this post the first three times I read it.

I knew someone was going to ask me for examples.

Bank of America.

Oh, shit! :smack: I get it now!

Well played, Shagnasty!

I’m with you. Sponsorship is very common, and the lack of sponsorship for this exhibit is significant. I didn’t notice the sponsorship of the other one, but we got free tickets from a friend who is a teacher and who was given passes for some reason. I haunted the AMNH when I was a kid, and it is about the first thing I see whenever I return to New York after a long time away.
