Nope, I understand the point Trump was making, I only point out that you depend on tools or people that also understood the tactic of Trump, and they said it is doubtful it will work, and it is likely because of the other racist things Trump did said.
Not my problem that you are willing to ignore that the scholar in the Sirius podcast said that it was doubtful for the attract to work or the toolish nature of the Youtubers being apparent when they ignore all the rest of the old racist fogey tirade.
I, for one, have no problem wrapping my head around that.
That in no way proves that Trump was playing three dimensional connect the dots with his masterful performance at the National Association of Black Journalists conference.
That you can’t wrap your head around that is what is astounding.
Sometimes blind pigs fecally incontinent former Presidents find acorns don’t shit their diapers.
No the demographic he is targeting does not see him as racist, no matter what he says. Some of them may only know the history of things like redlining third hand, whereas my parents delt with it directly.
I’m an elder now at 52, my mother is 80 my father died in '21 at 74. This is the reality, the old norms do not apply now.
I think the Harris message of “we won’t go back” can work.
It’s time to admit times have changed. Stop trying to bury your heads think that what worked in past elections will work now.
Based on your numbers, the overwhelming majority of the black population (even the young blacks) do not admire the dwindling 10% that you are pointing here.
From reading a couple of the comments on one of those videos some of them are of the opinion that if they throw the election to Trump Democrats will see the light and approve reparations for slavery.
Meanwhile, Republicans and conservatives are talking longingly about how great slavery was for ‘the blacks’.
If you presented this as a movie treatment no one even look at it because the main characters are too stupid to be believable.
I was trying to find something cite-able. Not so much “following print media.” Anything online would have sufficed.
Got a little unlucky trying to cite Signorile’s program because he doesn’t seem to make it available after broadcast. After a little more digging, it does look like he unlocks some of his pay content on his Substack after some time has passed (a week?), so maybe he’ll address whatever Clift was talking about down the road.
I never said he did a good job there, I tried to respond to a thread that was wondering what was going on there. I said I understood what he was trying to do. I pointed out a 1M sub-YouTube channel that spun it to say he destroyed the interviewers.
You all then tried to say subs mean nothing they could be bots and I’m just like sure if that makes you feel good.
I’ve had a few follow from that thread to here in the pit, because I’m making good points and then some of my old posts are brought up on their own, way out of context years later, knowing I can’t really go back into detail now.
I have no dots to connect, and I’ve said I think he failed, mainly with the black jobs comments again.
Which is curious, since, IIRC, you’ve claimed that the cohorts in question won’t vote for Harris because she’s allowing illegal immigrants into the country and they’re stealing their jobs.
As I did not said anything about bots, you are mistaken about what you said about all here doing that. And really, trying to use all the numbers of people watching those peculiar youtubers as being supporters of those tools or to imply that all are also black, is not a very logical thing to say either.
We were having conversation in that thread, but I was banned for hijacking it. That is bullshit. I’m still looking at same thread watching them trying to figure out what happened, when I could tell them, they are still in there talking about maga.
You have to admit … running Kamala Harris is most certainly getting away from the same-old-same-old. I don’t see any head-burying in the Blue camp.
Bluntly: Trump’s in trouble and picking up a relatively small number of young Black males nationwide (or else making some number stay home) isn’t going to move the needle. Movement in other cohorts will more than counter whatever electoral changes take place among young Black males. Just a hunch on my part, but I’ll offer it all the same.
You could tell them your opinion, but, unless you are admitting that you are part of the Trump campaign, you can not tell them what Trump was actually trying to make happen.
Just as an aside: Do we know how many of that one million are young Black men?
I ask because racist whites LOVE seeing far-right Blacks “speaking the truth” about whatever. “Look – one of their own even said it!” Is it unreasonable for me to think north of 80% of that one million are far-right white folks?
Wow are you this dense? The black jobs comment is Trump’s racism showing, he is not being advised to say black jobs. He’s fucking it up.
The demographic he is trying to appeal to has the same interests as maga whites that say the same thing, they are taking our jobs. The black jobs lines are a gaffe on Trump’s part.
BTW – do you recall whether Clift said Trump would get (a) ~10% of the overall Black vote, or (b) ~10% of the young male Black vote?
For reference, various exit polls indicated that Trump got ~10-12% of the overall Black vote in 2020 (LINK 2). Black voters, in turn, are about 12% of the electorate (per LINK 2). How big of numbers are we talking about Trump peeling off here? I understand that margins can be slim … but there’s a difference between margins and marginalia. Does it matter? And how do we know?
I think you just missed the entire point. trump messed up the message, and while the long-term goal may be to have us back in the fields, that’s not what he is being advised to say not.
He’s trying to say the opposite, to feed into a long-held concern in the black community that Hispanic immigrants coming up from central and south America will supplant them. Since most of them can pass for white. He’s trying to say he will stop that.
I’ve gone into this before he, even started publicly like in the conference. i’ve been saying this for over a year ago. he’s being coached on all this but he fucks it up.
Once again, I know the board doesn’t like it but it’s time to put the big-boy pants on and deal with it.
