What, and force the right-wing nutjobs to actually address the issue? Perish the thought!
Guess so. The Heinz in her name is from her first husband, Senator John Heinz of Pennsylvania.
She was widowed in 1991, a fact I’m painfully aware of. I was a Heinz supporter and an usher at his funeral.
No, of course not, this is clearly a venue for cheap shots by slavering Pubbie whack jobs and a little cheap superiority by “independents” who are clearly idiots and don’t understand the fundamental issues at all.
Well, then educate me. I’m all ears.
I’d also like some proof, while you’re at it, that Christine Gregoire did indeed win the gubernatorial election in Washington fairly, and didn’t invent votes out of whole cloth.
I’d also like some answers about interference in Wisconsin Republican get out the vote efforts by individuals linked to high ranking Democratic officials there.
I’m all for fair elections, and I think a lot needs to be done to tighten up the process in very many areas.
I understand fundamental issues fine, thank you very much. These are fundamental breakdowns of the system, aren’t they? Shouldn’t they be eliminated in the future?
“Get over it.” We’ve been hearing that a lot since Election Day, 2000.
Maybe the Red States can set us a good example.
If you have evidence that Christine Gregoire “invent[ed] votes out of whole cloth,” I’d like to actually see it before I’m expected to rebut it.
Seriously, are you accusing Gregoire of vote fraud?
First I’d heard of this one. Link?
That much, at least, we can agree on.
For example it’d be nice to hear that the majority of voting machines in this country aren’t being built by one company.
It would be nice to hear that the people who design and build voting machines are non-partisan and have not announced they want to see one candidate win.
It would be nice if there was some way to verify that the voting machines recorded all votes accurately.
It would be nice if someone would explain why the exit polls were so far off from the posted results when they normally are far closer.
And it would be really nice if more Republicans were like me and thought these were important issues that should be addressed. If everything was legit and above-board, wouldn’t it be worth the effort to have impartial investigators refute the charges and reassure the public that the people holding office actually won the election? And if there were problems, isn’t it worth the time to find them and fix them before they affect another election and perhaps result in the loss of a candidate you favor? The apathy among Republicans over voter fraud does seem to give credence to the fear that the reason we’re not concerned about voter fraud is because we have it “under control”.
Yes, I heard a little about that in the news … so, do you mean that the system works because the republicans won? Certainly proclaiming that the result was A. says nothing about the methods used to select A. over B.
Certainly all those nutty cats in the eeeevil LLllllllliberal media don’t seem to find the issue of tamperable voting machines very sexy. I would have thought at least Geraldo Rivera would have dismantled one live on TV by now … Nothing but the sound of crickets.
The woman has scads of resources…spend some of it and discover the truth with it. Bitching about it in hopes of creating some “truth” to this accusation (cheaply I might add) rings quite hollow.
Amazingly enough, being rich still doesn’t mean you can walk into a state government office and demand access to the workings of their voting machines. (OK, you could demand it, but nobody’d take you seriously.) Absent subpoena power, a private investigation into government conduct can only go so far.
Besides, the election is over. I agree with Mr. Moto that the essential thing to do is fix the system before the next one. That means electronic machines that produce verifiable paper trails. That means ensuring that there are more than enough voting machines everywhere. That means no removals of so-called felons from the voting lists on the basis of some crappy matching algorithm. That means you don’t use machines with higher error rates in the cities than in the burbs. That means no attempts to intimidate voters with threats of being arrested for petty offenses if they show up to vote.
I’d like to see a bunch of other stuff besides, but that’s a few things I’m sure we can all agree on.
I think Little Nemo’s response pretty much covers the ground I was going to. And my response was not so much directed at you, Mr. Moto, as some posters here who clearly did not understand the nature of the electronic voting machnine problem and yet were so sure it was just partisan bickering by the Dems. “I’m totally ignorant here, but I know it’s all partisan bickering, la la la la la la la la.” Really impressive.
I am grateful my party has such outspoken, annoying partisans like THK that can get under the skin of the opposition so easily and distract them from our real work to turn the tide and recapture the House and Senate in '06. The more we can stir the hive and get the Pubbie bees hopping mad at the wrong target, the easier it will be to blindside them with our real candidates and issues in the next election. Flame on THK! Flame on Al Sharpton! They will never know what hit them.
Yep, the tighty-righty brownshirt dittohead wingnuts have their designated boogymen (actually, boogywomen). First it was Hillary, now it’s THK. The rightwing gasbags will make daily hay out of anything these ladies say or do. No need to even look at the details, Drudge and Limbaugh and their ilk know that just mentioning the names Hillary or Teresa to their fans is like tuna to a herd of cats.
You, uh, might be overestimating just how seriously we’re taking the OP or any of the discussions here.
Mmm…more like cat litter, I’d say.
You’re in fine form this evening, Starvers.
Talking fundraisers, how about a threeway with Teresa, Hillary and Michael Moore? People would pay good money not to see that.
Actually, in terms of “boogywomen,” Hillary (a.k.a., the “Princess of Darkness”) still ranks far ahead of THK. Sure, the right-wing ranters may occasionally invoke THK to fire up their flock but she’s strictly a B-list liberal demon who talks with a “funny” accent.
He’s talking about the tire slashing in Milwaukee. (The Journal Sentinel may require a short registration thing. It’s painless.) Twenty-five vans/cars parked outside a GOP office the night before the election had their tires slashed. A representative’s son, the former mayor’s son, and a couple of other people were charged with felony criminal damage to property. They’re not going to trial until July, though, so Mr. Moto is just going to have to be patient.
You would be surprised. I give you and the other conservatives here a lot more credit than the masses that listen to Drudge, Rush, et al. At least I know that you all (for the most part) can argue intelligently on the issues. Most of the the audience for this kind of liberal baiting doesn’t think much past what right-wing ringmasters want them to think. And that suits me fine.
I certainly would! In fact, as a favor to humanity, I’d try to buy up all the tickets so no one would have to see it.
