Modus tollens, Clumpy is not a modern American.
I realize it’s the BBQ Pit but a lot of people are merely responding with personal attacks against Clothahump rather than disputing the position he took.
He believes that political correctness is more evil than treason and slavery.
We can do both. It’s called “multitasking.”
Disputation was completed in a single line at post 2.
Clothahump does not respond to rational argument. Perhaps burying him in social disapproval might work in the long run. If neither rational argument nor social disapproval work with Clothahump, either one may influence others of his ilk. Even if the whole exercise is futile, it is good to speak out in the face of racism, and it is good to vent.
And ilk season is year-round, any weapons, no bag limit.
Why not? People are clearly giving Clothahump exactly what he is looking for: yet another chance to yell at the damn liberals that bedevil him so. After all, we’re the Worst Things Ever, and he needs an outlet to express his deep, deep anger, or else he’d probably take it out on people he actually cares about. We’re doing him a fucking favor.
Clothahump presented a position: that schools shouldn’t spend tax money on ideological projects that don’t help in education.
Some of us have responded to that topic (I don’t agree with his position) and Clothahump has responded back to us. So maybe you should give rational argument a shot.
He ignored mine. I suspect that he does NOT think HISD should accept $10M to name an elementary school after Hitler, so I think he DOES think that ideology and PC should, at times, matter enough to be worth paying for. He just doesn’t think that what Confederate leaders did was bad enough to be worth paying to remove. It’s a matter of degree, not type. But he doesn’t want to argue that because if he does, he has to come out and say that he doesn’t think slavery and treason are a really big deal, not like Nazi-ism.
And then he changed his argument to “not wanting to forget history so we don’t forget it”, which is just dumb. It’s actually an argument to have Hitler High, so that we don’t forget the man.
What, you mean like using a school named after some Confederate Dick that was still struggling before the courts a decade ago over desegregation and separate but equal? You mean that rational argument and proven example? Nah, Clothahump is too thick for rational argument.
Fuck. Off.
Seriously. Being called a racist by an ignorant braying jackass…Muffin, just fuck off.
I know it’s the Pit, but even with the freedoms in it, I can’t properly respond to your level of dickheadedness without getting a warning.
P. S. If you bother to pull your head out your butt, you would be able to easily find that I have a long, long record on this board of standing behind the fact that skin color is meaningless and that we are all one race, period. But ghods forbid that reality and facts get in the way of your ignorant bias.
And as I mentioned earlier, your response was made out of sheer fucking ignorance and blithering stupidity.
Who said anything about honoring it? Sweeping it under the rug is not the way to go, either. It’s history, people. These folks have a place in it, whether you like it or not.
No, actually, I’ve only gotten rational responses from a very few people. The rest of you are posting at a level of annoying rectal itch, with about as much intelligence as the pinworms involved.
So why do they deserve a place of honor?
Try that again, but this time with more spittle flying out of your mouth like a senile old coot.
But naming things like schools and streets after people is an honor. Which is why I feel these things should be renamed when we realize the subjects don’t deserve that honor - even if it costs some money to do it.
Yes, we should teach about the Confederate cause in schools. We should even teach why the Confederates did what they did and explain what their viewpoint was at the time. But their time is not our time and there’s no reason why we should be honoring Confederate heroes when we no longer agree with the cause they fought for.
Have a lot of experience with the butt-worms?
Says the racist who made a Buckwheat crack at a black person. Or were you so stupid that you did not understand what you said, and therefore you excuse your racism with your stupidity? Just as you may be too stupid to realize that you are a racist who prefers that students spend their time in schools that honour people who fought against the students’ country so as to own the students’ families and eventually own those same students who are in those schools today.
You don’t like being called a racist? Stop conducting yourself as a racist. Hey, it’s your thread, so deal with it.
Wait…you have no problem saying “fuck” repeatedly, but you won’t say “ass?”
