I pit the lady who slapped Tom Barrett after WI election

I mean, I don’t like Tom Barrett’s politics much, but he didn’t deserve that. Come on lady, the man just lost a big election, he already feels pretty bad. You don’t beat down someone who has put as much(and I would guess more) into this campaign than you. I don’t care how pissed off you are, it’s just not classy.

And frankly, the guy could probably have used the hug he asked you for.

According to the linked article, “The woman, who was immediately identified, was upset that Barrett was conceding while people were still trying to vote.”

Of course, she was wrong to slap him, but I agree with her point: if people are still voting, then there should be no announcement by anyone (including the media) about the final results of the election. For one thing, with ubiquitous cell phones these days, people still lining up to vote can read such announcements before they vote.

i think his statement was made after the poll closing time. though anyone in line at 8 PM could vote no matter how long it took for them to actually vote. this happens mostly (only) in large cities.

it would be best if no announcements be made until all polls have closed. i don’t think that will happen they already have troubles waiting until 8 PM, they’re like horse in the starting gate.

Well, she did ask permission.

M m.

I heard she was going to shake his hand, but chickened out at the last minute.

Talk about adding injury to insult…

Well, I know the feeling-- a lot of people were still hoping for some miracle when he conceded.

They’re showing that clip over and over on the news in Madison. And they’ve got Barrett afterwards, saying that he checked with the Milwaukee polling places that had lines, and they were all done well before 10.

Y’know, a true liberal would’ve chased her out to the parking lot, told Security to let her go, given her a big tearful hug, and sent her kids to college.

At least she didn’t use a baton.

Shortly after 10 p.m. local time, Barrett took the stage at his election night rally in downtown Milwaukee. By then, networks had projected Walker as the winner of the recall race.

The polls closed at 9pm – if he conceded an hour after I doubt anyone was still voting.

A totally classless thing for this woman to do.

If I was him, I would have strangled her to death. It’s never acceptable to lay a hand on another person.
