I pit the liberal media. Just another day at the office, right?

Except…
And it must be annoying to him to recognize who originally said that!

They say that liberals are knitwits…

Daniel

Yeah, you’d think the OP would be quite happy if the media would ignore what was going on over there, because just about every story coming out of the country only serves to make his guy’s policies look worse.

Well, you know what they say. The fact based community is Un-American and Anti-Bush because the facts they report on don’t cast the administration in a very good light.

Sorry, but I believe that these two stories are related.

And that would be the unwritten punchline of the joke!

This is hilarious. The OP gets called out for referring to up to the minute type reports where older stories are necessarily pushed down, and he is then directed to major media outlets (lib’ruls, all of 'em) where the Iraqi elections are getting plenty of attention. As if being handed his ass on the mertis of the argument he wished to make wasn’t enough, someone points out that one of the news services “not reporting” the elections is dedicated to web news (i.e. news about the web, not on it). At some point doesn’t this thread turn into kicking the OP while he’s down? Can we give this a ten count to see if the OP can get up and continue to make an argument or should would just call this a TKO?

Clothahump, it’s all well and good if you want to object to what you percieve as orchestrated media Bush-bashing, but do make take a bit of time to formulate your argument before posting, and for Christ’s fucking sake, learn a little bit about how the wire services operate. As it stands, you have managed to place before the public one of the most hilariously stoopid OPs I’ve ever read on this board.

The wire services as a group move thousands of stories per day. You have effectively posted a snapshot of stories moved over the wires over the past couple of hours, one set of which, as several posters have helpfully pointed out is limited to Internet matters only, another of which is clearly concerned with local matters. This list says nothing about what stories were moved 10 hours ago, yesterday or last week, nor are there any criteria listed for what constitutes a ‘top story’ and how that status is determined.

Lastly, you seem to know there was an election in Iraq. I know there was one. Every fucking person I’ve spoken recently knows there was an election. Just how did we manage to obtain this secret information, do you think? What information specifically are you seeking about the election that you don’t already know?

Sheesh.

Clothahump’s little light is not lit, so I would think he is regathering his forces, consolidating his defenses, and in preparation for a full-scale assault on the facts presented. We should see him again in no more than a year.

I dunno about the rest of you, but it was leaked to me from the White House.

“Jew-run liberal media! Hebrew Box Office!”

Look, the whole “liberal media” thing is just a punchline at this point. The pro-war, pro-Bush, unquestioning media is as far from liberal as Fox News is.

something tells me none of the wire stories will be about the Iraqi elections then either (damn liberals).

Well, to be fair, he hasn’t been to the site today (at least not while logged in) since he posted the OP, so it’s a tad too early to classify this as a “shit and run.”

I can’t imagine he’ll want to claim this mess when he returns though. Maybe he’ll exersize the ol’ pocket veto and let it slip down a few pages before posting again.

I can’t swear to it, but I thought the Iraqi election was the top story on CNN.com during the weekend. Anybody know if there’s a way to get snapshot of CNN.com from a couple days ago? Waybackmachine doesn’t appear to have them. But if I’m recalling correctly, the simple explanation is that a story simply doesn’t remain the top story forever.

And also, before you judge the OP and his supporters too harshly, remember, the “Liberal Media” belief is psychological defense mechanism against information that might trigger cognitive dissonance. Have some sympathy.

I can’t imagine him NOT claiming it. I expect him to come in with some particularly chest-thumping mockery of all us liberals in lockstep with one another, so blinded by partisanship that we can’t see the obvious bias in the media. Disgusting sexual metaphors may be an extra bonus.

Daniel

Oh yeah, here’s the top story (as in biggest headline and a picture and everything) I found on Yahoo News as of 12:15 PM CST:

So, nothing to complain about any more, right?

Did you see yesterday’s NYT article? It seems the most salient aspect of the vote was how little enthusiasm there was compared to the first vote.

Liberal media? The signs are everywhere!

Item: all of a sudden, as Heilary Clinton’s relentless juggernaut for the White House starts gaining momentum, we have a new TV show about…get this!..a woman President! Coincidence? I wonder…

And what about Dennis Miller? Once he had the courage to denounce the traitorous liberals, what did they do? They stuck his show in prime time, when no one is watching! Who the hell is watching TV at eight in the evening? And after a paltry couple of months, they yanked him off the air. He know stands at a freeway entrance in Sausalito with a sign that says “Will kvetch for food!”.

And what of “Mallard Fillmore”, the trenchant cartoon strip beloved of dozens? Need I say more? Think you can stop me?

Oh, c’mon, I gotta call cite on that. Especially after you mocked my puns.

Daniel

Yes.

I respectfully submit that the flaws in the OP have been made abundantly–nay, painfully clear, and there is no purpose served by twenty more people coming in to say the same things. Let him have a chance to respond. He might surprise you all and offer a mea culpa. He might not, but he really should have the chance.
