OMG have you also noticed than that the name of the lead character, Mackenzie Allen, sounds remarkably, poetically like Hillary Clinton?!?
Well, I did point out that the guy practically begged for a painful thumping. It’s a lot to ask when you throw shit at people that they not point out you’re a howling gibbon.
But, 'tis true that this is shooting fish in a tuna can.
Eh… the dogpile/flameout combo unlocks a secret bonus Doper level where you can win valuable prizes redeemable after the show.
We will find you. We’ll look for the guy in N. Carolina who’s got a book. It will take a while. But we will find you.
Wow–I had no idea how easy it’d be to needle you!

My comment was more of a wry aside than an unqualified endorsement of the argument offered by the OP. I thought the obvious strawman quality of it would have marked it as such; evidently, not so much.
So: my post was not intented to be read as endorsing the OP, or indeed as substantive argument of any kind. It was just a wry, collateral-type comment.
he’s all alone now . . .
in the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down,
Or cut him 'til he cried out in his anger and his shame,
“I am leaving, I am leaving.”
But the fighter still remains.
**Lie-la-lie **
you couldn’t make this stuff up.
And BTW, I recognized he was offline, the “10 count” comment was necessary to complete my TKO/boxing metaphor.
those words belong to Paul Simon, not me, as everyone knows, but I want to make it clear I’m not claiming them as my own.
Want some wry? 'Course you do!
Meh. I think they were off the mark as a collateral-type comment: their implication was that, when confronted with evidence of media bias, liberals engage in a three-headed-monkey defense, pointing to Bush’s sins instead of addressing the evidence of media bias. I think this would have been an excellent opportunity for you to chastise someone on your side of the political divide, as you’ve asked liberals to do.
If ElvisLives makes a post about, I dunno, how Republicans are trying to summon the Elder Gods through their environmental policies, you won’t see me following up with, “But, we won the election! Get over yourselves, losers! Also, the war against terror and all that stuff.” It’s stupid, and it’s strawmannifyin, and it’s undignified.
I know there’s no accounting for taste in humor, but I don’t think your response worked, here.
Daniel
The residents of the Joe McCarthy home for the terminally right wing love it.
But even they don’t think it’s funny.
I saw the Iraq story on top of Yahoo news last night. But old Clothahump appears to be a few votes short of a mandate. And before anyone gets too excited, us geezers remember that South Vietnam had elections too. And I forget - did rights for women make it into the Constitution or not?
Very good point.
I’ll tell you why it didn’t occur to me - this is the Pit, and the OP itself was not an effort that I thought would be taken all that seriously.
But you’re right: were the shoe on the other foot, I’d have appreciated a reasoned response from the rational lefty shooting down the looney lefty.
Clothahump:
Sheesh, man: get real. There are plenty of legitimately debatable instances of bias in the news if that’s how you’d like to spend your time this afternoon. But this particular effort reeks. It is undermined by its lack of factual basis – the Iraq election is being reported. And while bias in reporting is arguably an issue, when I use the term “bias” I refer to the almost unconscious selection of stories and words that confirm a reporter’s views… not a deliberate, evil plot by the maintream media to hide a substantial story. That is the stuff of paranoia, not reality.
This kind of OP, even in the Pit, hurts the legitimate conservative critique of the media, and does absolutely nothing to convince those in the middle that those on the right aren’t crazier than shithouse rats. This effort of yours gets a D- for content and an F for effort.
Fair enough, and I appreciate that!
Daniel
This is why **Bricker’s ** opinions are treated seriously and **Clothahump’s ** are largely ignored. Even when we disagree, I recognize that **Bricker ** brings more depth and knowledge to the argument than I usually can.
I, for one, thank you for this…
Yes, “endorsement” comment retracted.
Impressive display of backpedalling.
I give it six hours before this thread is closed, another one is started asking why, and is then closed after a mod explains it was done at the request of the OP.
And I bet we’ve turned a corner…
wonders just how many corners this thing has to turn
Chickens running around with their heads cut off turn a lot of corners, too.
