You chose to only respond to one of those, ignoring the substantative evidence and questions in five of them. All in all, I have to say, I think I’ve contributed more to the thread than you have.
I think I can say, without fear of any sort of rational contradiction, that you have been piled upon here because you are a moron, and not because you are a conservative. You have complained that the press is too liberal on the basis that an internet-related news site was not covering three-day-old world political news. Even one of the board’s noted conservatives has taken time out to complain about the sheer looniness of your OP. It stands proud, like an erect cock of cluelessness, testament to your superlative stupidity for all to see and admire.
And yet, the callouses on your brain somehow protect you from the fearful possibility that you might in fact deserve the stick you’re getting. It must be marvellous. Did you headbutt a lot of solid objects as a child? Do you hold the world record for simultaneous inadvisable Q-tip insertions? How, my frog-licking friend, do you achieve such heights of self-delusion? Inquiring minds must know.
I’d have bet dollars to dougnuts that Clothahump wouldn’t have enough sack to show up in this thread again. Leave it to him to actually find a less manly way to handle the situation. “I was right, I don’t care how many news sites you link to that show other wise! You’re all assholes because you call people names!” I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more naked display of wilful hypocrisy in my life. Alongside his general idiocy and occasional outbursts of bigotry, and I thnk humpy here has discovered all new lows in board credibility. Here’s a guy who makes milroyj look like a paragon of wit and probity. Who’d have ever guessed that was even possible?
For cryin’ out loud, guys – my political views are probably 180 degrees from Clothahump’s, but I don’t understand this heavy piling on. If you really do want him to come back, don’t be so incredibly hostile. It took guts to show up here again inview of the heavy piling on and sarcasm, and when he does, he still gets booted in the ribs for doing it. Even if this is the Pit, the adage about flies, vinegar, and sugar still applies. Why the heck would anyone want to come here in the face of this abuse? And some of you want him to apologize or recant? In the face of the opposition displayed here, I can’t see why he wouldn’t just tell you all to take a hike, or something.
Yeah, I don’t understand the ferocity, either. I mean, this OP was so absurd it was just funny, not infuriating. Clothahump will probably go down in SDMB legend and song as the guy who pitted the “liberal media” for not covering Iraqi elections in Reuters’ Internet Report.
I’d say that’s almost up there with Jack Dean Tyler’s alleged circumcision conspiracy of Jewish obstetricians and Wildest Bill’s anti-terror strategy of pouring pig’s blood on Muslims. One for the Straight Dope “Classics of Ignorance” museum.

And yeah, Clothahump did come back to the thread. So he could proclaim his rightness yet again and throw in a heaping helping of martyrdom to boot. Not exactly covering himself with glory, is it?
What courage does it take to reappear in a thread on a message board? Personally, i think it took more courage for him to post such a blatantly stupid OP in the first place. It might have taken a little bit of courage (or at least humilty and intelligence) to concede he was wrong, but he hasn’t even managed to do that very well.
As for his reappearance, its purpose seemed merely to reaffirm his general “liberal media” thesis, and add in a large dose of “woe is me for being a conservative on the SDMB” martyrdom.

Well, I think Clothahump’s OP pretty much dictated the direction this thread would take. Talk about ad hominem attacks, he was spewing those right off the bat. Had he avoided the vitriol, I’m sure a more civil discussion would have ensued - even if this is the Pit.
I’ll admit I’ve made many postings in which I’ve invited those who disagree to “feel free to pounce”. But at least I realize there just might be some other valid opinions out there, some facts I overlooked, and so on.
So, this is not just another “Doper” piling on. Just a word of advice about being prepared to take a lot of flack if you start a thread that is so emotionally charged and with such a limited perspective.
Anyway, I think the Dopers would agree that Clothahump is still welcome here - but he’d better be prepared to take what he dishes out.
I admitted that I was wrong about the coverage. That was fact, and I stood up and said I made a mistake. What the hell is your problem with that?
I also clearly stated that I felt there wasn’t enough coverage, that this was a major, major event that was being downplayed. That was a clear expression of my personal opinion. Put on your big girl panties and deal with it.

I am happy to have ignorant conservatives show up who are willing to be schooled, and I am ecstatic to have intelligent conservatives show up who are willing to school me. But willfully ignorant idiots add nothing to the messageboard; if Clothahump takes his balls and goes home, we both win. He can even declare himself the winner if he likes; what do I care? I don’t want him to go away mad.
I shoulda quoted this part the first time around, wring–this is what I was thinking about, even if I didn’t let anyone know :). I don’t want him to come back, not especially: he’s like the guy at the bar who keeps talking about them damn furriners taking our jobs, when all I want to do is chat with my friends about the latest SF book we’ve read. If he decides that this bar is full of pinko faggots and never comes back, all the better.
