I pit the people giving the widow crap for NOT taking call from President Biden

My informed opinion, based on a truckload of facts. In fact, it might take a large truck to carry all the awards he won over the years. sfadb : Harlan Ellison Awards

I know exactly who he is. I don’t care.
I don’t like him.
You’re free to have your own opinion.

(This is probably a hijack. So I’m stopping, carry on)

Who knows? Perhaps the White House will text you as well.

I wonder if a widow of fallen service men would refuse a call from a president? Nope don’t think they would.

I wonder if the killed spouses of 9/11 firefighters would’ve not accepted a call from Bush? Nope don’t think the would.

It’s a different political time.
Biden didn’t kill this man.
Crooks did.
If she blames Biden, she’s wrong.

I am not seeing where she blames Biden…or is that yet another uninformed opinion?

For what it’s worth, Beck, in the interview she did with the NY Post, she specifically said that she does not.

Her life so it’s her decision. I don’t agree with the reasoning and I would’ve taken the call and would’ve appreciated it. Some things transcend partisanship and it is sad that that is being forgotten.

Look, I’m not fighting with you over this anymore. Apparently we have different opinions.

Go start another thread on something you like.

Maybe she don’t wanna talk to anyone.
Oh, but she’s talked to the press. So I guess I am wrong on that.

That page appears to have been taken down.

It just happens to be my opinion that I have just as much a right to post here as you do-This ain’t one of your “Bad Bad Bad” threads, sorry.

Totally agree.

(Remember up thread when you told me to start a “Bad, bad, bad stump my toe” thread, we forget so soon.
I have the same rights as you)

Bullshit. Of course a few of them didn’t take calls. It doesn’t matter. It’s a private thing.

I have to apologize to the OP for my snarky first response. I didn’t think anyone would be such a callous asshole as to criticize the actions of a widow who just witnessed the violent murder of her spouse.

I don’t recall demanding the right to be ignorant, but whatever.

I just can’t. It takes a lot to offend me, this is just sick.
And your seeming cries of They’re trying to censor me! are juvenile.
Suntan out.

I appreciate the apology. I honestly don’t understand people who insist she was rude for refusing to talk to Biden (especially since the phone call must occurred in less 48 hours after her husband’s death).

In fact I would go so far as to say President Biden was rude and uncivil trying to call so soon after husband’s death. IMHO the proper respectful thing for a President to do in this situation is to issue a statement saying what happened is a tragedy and people should leave the victim’s family alone so they can process what has happened privately.

This how I think Presidents (and other politicians) should respond in the future.

Unfortunately Biden is in a “no win” situation. Damned if he calls immediately (publicity stunt!), and damned if he doesn’t (Uncaring bastard!). For his political opponents there is no right call, just auto-wrong.

You made me laugh again.

Yeah it’s a private thing. So why tell the press?

I just don’t get it.

We don’t know what 9/11 people didn’t take calls from Bush. I’m willing to bet plenty did. But like you said it’s private. So your guess is as good as mine.

That is a fair point.

And I admit I am biased. I hate politics and politicians in general and I would hate having them trying to interject themselves in anyway if one of my own relatives died.

And despite my criticism of Biden I voted for him in 2020 and plan on voting for him again in the fall. Not because I agree with him a great deal – I just view him as the lesser of two “evils”. (“evil” is probably too strong a word-more like the lesser of two flawed candidates.)
